Jim: No inclusion of CD accessibility in 508, uphill battle to do so

Katie: We should recommend CD should be included in 508 from a functional perspective.
... We should include specifics for performance criteria.

Rich: 508 refresh has not changed much in the past 3 years and, within that time, there were no suggestions about CD accessibility.
... There may not be acceptance of CD accessibility-related feedback now.
... 508 has waited 17 years for refresh. Perhaps we should make suggestions for next version.

Janina: Probably not practical, at this late stage, to provide COGA feedback.

Lisa: Not providing feedback will affect a whole generation of people, especially if we have to wait another 10 years for a refresh.
... We will have to keep the W3C-formal process in mind for providing feedback.
... I think it's a marvelous time to provide feedback (by May 28) about such items as Voice ML (pressing 0 for help).
... I don't think it will be a distraction for us to suggest COGA performance criteria.

<Ryladog> I suggest one specific additions to the Functional Performance Criteria. Add: 302.9 With Cognitive Language and Learning Disabilities. Where a mode of operation is provided, ICT shall provide at least one mode of operation that is operable by persons with Cognitive Language and Learning Disabilities.

Katie: I think we should request an addition of 302.9 to at least get our foot in the door, but nothing else.
... Adding that would not limit the scope of 508.

Janina: Suggests we write this up and send it to Judy to see if she thinks she has an opportunity to present it to 508.

Jim: Not clear to me what the access board intends to do about suggested added techniques.
... Agrees to suggest an added performance criteria.

Rich: I think access board is supposed to be coming back with techniques about how to meet 508.

Janina: Yes, I think so: techniques are not fixed, and can be improved.

Katie: Access board will be pointing to WCAG for techniques about how to meet AA and AAA.

Janina: I'm not comfortable with 508-related work because it is scope creep.

Michael: If 508 work galvanizes the group, that's great, but would not want the work to be a distraction to our group.
