<dom> schuki, the mail you sent the other day for the meeting said 2pm UTC, but http://www.w3.org/wiki/Mobile/Meetings says 3pm UTC; which is it?

2pm!

<dom> so I missed it then?

wait, is it 3pm now?!

i was going by cal

<dom> it will be 5min from now

yes yes!!!

<dom> oh, calendar has it as 3pm too

no no 3pm then

<dom> ok good :)

HI CRUD DAYLIGHT SAVINGS

hopefully people will have your more helpful cal entry!

<dom> trackbot, prepare meeting

<trackbot> Date: 12 November 2014

<marcosc> hakim, who is here?

<dka> will dial

Permissions - Geolocation

marcosc: mournir made a permissions api proposal
... this should address the discussion of the gelocation api
... during tpac the geolocation wg some privacy issues were rasied
... mounir thinks we should deal with these
... hopefully then we can filter this into dap

dom: how does this deal with alex russell's issues

marcosc: not sure, we asked TAG about this

<dka> ?

<dom> A Plan For Permission-Requesting APIs

<dka> what historical time-frame of TAG positions are we talking about for geo privacy?

marcosc: dom asked the tag about permissions and apis

dka: alex produced a doc with this

<dom> A Plan For Permission-Requesting APIs

dka: there was a question with data minimisation with the api a while ago
... this came up at the privacy discussion at tpac

there is no formal doc about this

<dka> http://www.w3.org/2001/tag/doc/APIMinimization.html

marcosc: ah the async thing

dka: latest tag work is in this permissions doc
... alex russell produced
... we would like feedback

schuki: i'll send to the group

marcosc: the model alex is proposing is the initial request
... mounir's is after
... so what you do after a permission has been denied

data info api!

Data API

<dka> Also of note: http://www.w3.org/2014/10/31-privacy-minutes.html

<dka> Privacy IG minutes from TPAC.

<dka> Where among other things doucments relating to privacy reviews are discussed.

<marcosc> schuki: we are looking if there are legal issues around the API. We are seeing if it's feasible and if it can be done in an interoperable manner. So initially, we are just looking at experimenting and producing guidelines.

<marcosc> schuki: so we would like to do some implementation work before we push for standardization

dka: some feedback is that data plans are very different so there would be a lot of complexity
... so using this could be hard
... the q is: how can we boil this down into the top things app developers want?

marcosc: browser side we may need to have some operators that can provide this, and some can't
... this could be a disruptive feature
... so this could be seen as a competitive advantage

<dka> makes sense

<dka> :)

<Zakim> dom, you wanted to discuss deeper network info api

dom: some convesations are going on privately,
... an API giving info on how the network is being operated would be good

<dka> +1 to “softly softly” approach.

marcosc: it would be great to show it working with one / few operators
... then show it working

Sharing update

marcosc: no update ;.;
... still hopeful this will happen soon

schuki: we still looking at sharing maps urls?

marcosc: this has happened, so not much has changed since the last call

New work for the next few months!

<marcosc> schuki: want to talk to some people about what we should do in the next few months

<marcosc> schuki: was hoping to get more use case and requirements from the group

<marcosc> schuki: been talking to people here at the IETF about the importance of the data API work

<marcosc> schuki: it would be great to see if anything come out of the TPAC sessions with regards to new work. Wanted to also have another look at Dom's API gap to see if there is new work opportunities there.
