The goal of the TV Profile TF is to reduce fragmentation and eliminate the needs for extensions, by providing a common meta-profile that allows external organizations to align with W3C and with each other.

Scope

The goal of a TV profile document is to reduce fragmentation and eliminate the needs for extensions, by providing a common meta-profile that allows external organizations to align with W3C and with each other. While is not possible to provide a profile that cover all needs of different organizations and stakeholders, this meta-profile tries to keep at a minimum the variables involved in defining new profiles, providing a common reference framework that different organization can reuse.

Success Criteria

We have succeeded if we can achieve consensus on a set of technologies that are fundamental for TV deployments

Dependencies

The TV Profile TF will work try to coordinate his activities with both W3C WGs and external groups.

Communication

This Task Force primarily conducts its technical work on the public mailing list at

public-web-and-tv@w3.org (archive).

TF emails should be labelled accordingly, by prefixing the email subject with the TF identifier "[profile]". See W3C mailing list and archive usage guidelines.

There is also a member-only list to be used for administrative purposes at

member-web-and-tv@w3.org (archive).

The moderator maintains the Task Force page on the public Wiki, with the help of the Task Force participants if needed.

Participation

Participation in this Task Force's telephone conferences and f2f meetings is open to W3C Members and Invited Experts. However, all the public mailing list subscribers can participate in the Task Force discussion on the list.

To keep track of Task Force participation, all the participants should register his/her name and affiliation on the Profile TF participants Wiki page.


Note.

  1. If you have already sent an email to the public list, it would be appreciated if you could add your name/affiliation to the Task Force Wiki yourself. In this way we can confirm that the wiki is working as expected.
  2. In order to be a Task Force participant (and to edit the wiki yourself), you need to be an official IG participant, as explained at:
