How do we specify a POI is of a particular type?

- We will define a POI Core and a number of extensions. A POI could conform to multiple profiles or extensions of the POI Core. Encoding this fact in the POI specification is important for efficient processing of POIs in a number of aggregation, analysis and mashup scenarios.
The requirement is similar to that for MIME types, but slightly different because MIME types are unique, or at least hierarchical, and POI profiles can be overlapping in a non-hierarchical manner.
I have two suggestions for how to specify this requirement.
1) attribute on <poi>: add another attribute to the poi named type. This can either be a comma-separated list of values, or a series of attributes with a single value.
2) use category and specify a special scheme: re-use the category attribute, using "term" as the value of the POI profile and "scheme" as a URI indicating a dictionary of POI profiles. This category may be repeated. - Related Actions Items:
