Cory-c: can't see the Web of Data

George: ORA conference showed a lot of good examples

http://data-gov.tw.rpi.edu/wiki/Demo:_Comparing_US-USAID_and_UK-DFID_Global_Foreign_Aid

Cory-c: yes, that's the basic stuff is missing

Michael: did you check out Sig.ma?

sandro: couple of activities, esp. recently
... in the UK, using conneg
... Tabulator is supposed to do this
... compare with Web in its early days

George: just want to make sure that we don't only focus on it

Cory-c: would make a good demo for gov data

Michael: Web of Data is mainly for machines, so generic LOD browsers can only go so far

George: what are than vis issue can/should be addressed?

<scribe> ACTION: Cory to write up requirements/wishlist for generic Web of Data browser [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/06/04-egov-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-109 - Write up requirements/wishlist for generic Web of Data browser [on Cory Casanave - due 2010-06-11].

Michael: Cory-c you might want to look at http://tomheath.com/slides/2008-09-graz-humans-and-the-web-of-data.pdf for inspiration

<dwood> There is also http://moustaki.org/swic/

Michael: http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1439263

George: let's do a quick update

sandro: have been doing a thousand things, so not sure where to start ;)

George: say, bag of chips talk ?

<bhyland> The next gov 2.0 summit in DC, http://www.gov2summit.com/gov2010

<sandro> Tim Berners-Lee "Bag of Chips" talk

Cory-c: will give a talk at SemTech

<bhyland> Dave and I are giving a half day tutorial on linked enterprise data at SemTech on Tuesday 6/22

<bhyland> Cory, let's plan to connect F2F at SemTech please

<Cory-c> bhyland, sure - email me cory-c c at modeldriven dot com

<bhyland> May 2010 Gov 2.0 Expo details at http://www.gov2expo.com/gov2expo2010

George: can Sindice process the sitemaps?

Michael: yes

<bhyland> Cory, FTR, my name is Bernadette :-)

Michael: Li and I are sorting out ATM
... is a voiD file planned?

George: once the interlinking is done, might be - also dcat

<Cory-c> Session @ semtec: http://semtech2010.semanticuniverse.com/agenda.cfm?confid=42&scheduleDay=06/24/10 - at 11:45 "open atchitectures for open government" - Brand and myself

Michael: 1-3 stars in the TimBL plan, use dcat, once RDF-based (4/5 stars), use voiD
... for example use the voiD editor ve2, at http://lab.linkeddata.deri.ie/ve2/

<bhyland> Wilshire did a teaser Intro to Linked Data webcast last month by Dave Wood. The Q&A session is on http://www.semanticuniverse.com/qa-session-introduction-linked-data-webcast.html

Michael: RDFa/void example see http://ontologi.es/rail/void.xhtml

George: any other feedback?

dwood: not really, but there are certainly areas worth being explored
... regarding advertising
... also mashups at data.gov, one should use production servers
... (re SIMILE services)

George: yes, there was an attempt to do so, but it's not so trivial

bhyland: many people involved (were involved) and currently some 15 people coming together (LOC sponsored) and discuss this
... doesn't scale well, etc.

dwood: Geore, fancy joining us?

George: sure, thanks, happy to drop by

dwood: will follow up via mail re this George

<bhyland> Dates are June 10-11, 2010 at Library of Congress.
