This wiki is a checklist of items that new Advisory Committee Representatives (AC Reps) should know about when they begin their W3C activities. Please contact <member-relations@w3.org> with any questions.
A: 15 minutes of things you'll want to know right away
- I took an onboarding call. If not, I should contact <member-relations@w3.org> to book one.
- I watched the 4-minute video on the benefits and roles of W3C Members.
- I know of the W3C Member homepage (member-only).
- I am aware of the two mailing lists that W3C makes available to AC Rep.
- [optional] I introduced myself to my fellow AC Reps <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org> (see samples here).
B: 15 minutes of things you'll soon want to know
- I watched the 3-minute video W3C groups and how W3C Members join and I can nominate my organization or employees to participate in W3C groups.
- I am familiar with the list of all W3C work groups.
- I know where to find who from my organization is participating in groups (this also lets me manage my organization.)
- I know where to refer employees of my organizations to request a W3C account.
- I know where to find who from my organization has a W3C account.
- I linked my GitHub account in the connected accounts section of my W3C profile, to access some repositories as a W3C member.
- I know where to consult the Open Questionnaires for AC Rep, in case I missed email announcements from the Team, or want to make sure I voted or performed AC Reviews.
C: Other things you will want to know eventually
- I can learn how to promote our participation in W3C
- I provided my organization's logo and an initial testimonial (instructions) which I can update as often as needed.
- I know where to learn about IRC (Internet Relay Chat) which many W3C groups use to conduct work.
- I can learn how W3C work groups conduct their work in Github.
- I can designate an Alternate AC Rep if I need to delegate any of my rights and responsibilities.
- I am familiar with the W3C events page.
- I am familiar with the Consortium Member Information.
