From XML Key Management (XKMS 2.0) Requirements (2003-05-05) | Glossary for this source
A mechanism to allow a client to verify that the server processed the correct request. The client may verify the server response, for example, by comparing the elements returned in the response, or comparing a digest of the request with a digest returned in a secured response. This ensures that an attacker has not diverted or otherwise changed portions of a request. For example, a client request might be directed to a particular URI so that a specific policy will be enforced as part of the service processing the request. Inclusion of the URI in the response ensures that the expected server policy was followed and that the request was conveyed correctly.

From User Agent Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (2002-12-17) | Glossary for this source
In this document, the term "explicit user request" refers to any user interaction through the user agent user interface (not through rendered content), the focus, or the selection. User requests are made, for example, through user agent user interface controls and keyboard bindings. Some examples of explicit user requests include when the user selects "New viewport," responds "yes" to a prompt in the user agent's user interface, configures the user agent to behave in a certain way, or changes the selection or focus with the keyboard or pointing device.Note: Users make mistakes. For example, a user may inadvertently respond "yes" to a prompt instead of "no." In this document, this type of mistake is still considered an explicit user request.

From XML Linking Language (XLink) (2001-06-27) | Glossary for this source
An application should traverse from the starting resource to the ending resource only on a post-loading event triggered for the purpose of traversal. An example of such an event might be when a user clicks on the presentation of the starting resource, or a software module finishes a countdown that precedes a redirect.
