Minutes

Attendees: Elgar, Chris, Julia, Scott, Diana, Bosse, Matthias

Apologies: Trish, Michel, Christi

<epichler> * Next Steps/Strategy Discussion - Susie * TMO Updates - Michel, Elgar * Patient Mapping - Michel, Chime, EricP * Interface/eMerge - Bosse, Chris * Outreach

<epichler> Susie: Diana's company has data sources that might be interesting for TMO

<epichler> Diana: calling in from NZ; working in business solutions for health; interest in semantic tagging ...

<epichler> ... have dbs containing info on clinical data, conference websites, health care studies, pharmacoeconomics, EHRs, ...

<epichler> ... might be able to produce data cut that could be used by TMO ...

<epichler> ... want to know which data we are interested, in which format

<epichler> Susie: interested in health care outcome data, R&D pipeline data (prior to clinical trials), prescription data, ...

<matthias_samwald> could we have the URLs of the databases mentioned by Diana?

<epichler> Scott: storyboarding would be of interest (diagnosis, therapy, patient-compound matching, economics)

<epichler> Diana: interested in semantic side of things

<epichler> Elgar, Susie: would be nice to have URLs for data that we could include in minutes; after that decide on cut ...

<diana> A database of clinical trials (including information from various trial registries, conferences, media releases etc) http://www.adisinsight.com/adis_cti.htm

<diana> A database of pharmaceutical products in research and development http://www.adisinsight.com/adis_rdi.htm

<diana> A database of adverse events http://www.adisinsight.com/adis_rp.htm

<epichler> Scott: nice that Diana has adverse data; would also be nice to have ideas for application of data ...

<epichler> Chris: do data include claims, patient info; what are privacy issues, deidentification processes?

<epichler> Diana: data include claims data, have been anonymized;

<epichler> [for EHR data not clear on where data/application boundary is for Diana's company]

<epichler> Susie: summary: look first at data descriptions; clarify who owns data; sending data samples in XML is fine

<epichler> * Next Steps/Strategy Discussion *

<epichler> Susie: recap on focus discussions from last weeks: terminology group also interested in looking at EHR issues, possibly with TMO group

<epichler> ... collaboration with other groups also makes sense

<epichler> Scott: talk between groups; idea of overarching HCLS demo and how to coordinate that

<epichler> Susie: Chris & Scott discussing writing paper for AMIA - progress?

<epichler> Chris, Scott: had meeting last week; looked at old Google doc; over next weeks will work on new version; talking also to John Madden to get feedback on this

<epichler> Susie: paper could provide summary, outlook for work on EHR; could help crystallize ideas in this area

<epichler> Scott: at Cleveland Clinic working on cardiology related applications; possibly involve Chime on this; Cleveland Clinic has sth. to offer re technology transfer to HCLS;

<epichler> ... potentially also interactions with CollaborX in the future

<epichler> Chris: will connect with John Madden over next days; Bosse still in this loop

<epichler> Scott: maybe also include EricP in this discussion

<epichler> Susie: Chime involved in Indivo work, ...

<epichler> ... plan is to have Michel, Chime, EricP involved in normalizing current TMO patient data via Endivo schema

<epichler> Susie: what should/could be further focus

<epichler> Scott: storyboarding; how to go from/to/between patient-centric data to cohort-centric or to drug-centric data

<epichler> Susie: problem: most patient data rather descriptive but missing genomic data; or genomic data very study focussed

<epichler> Scott: currently futuristic still: personalized medicine; NGS data inclusion

<epichler> Diana: biomarker issue: causal relationship not clear

<epichler> Chris: simple problems can still not be solved with current EHR data: e.g., selection of cohorts

<mscottm> Chris: need access to basic information too, such as demographic data

<epichler> ... "biomarker" has different meanings; also used differently in different contexts for diagnosis, treatment selection

<epichler> ... would like to focus on EHR; standardize format & use

<epichler> Susie: important time to be involved in EHR space and influence direction; but do want drug focus for TMO

<epichler> Scott: EHR contains info for variety of applications with personal, clinical, pharma perspectives

<epichler> Bosse: support Chris & Scott ... important to connect discovery and patient-centric data

<epichler> Susie: TMO has broader focus than just EHR ...

<epichler> Scott: in Terminology currently discussing radiology and pathology reports ...

<epichler> Susie: need to spend more this discussion; maybe patient-centric stuff could be discussed in Terminology and TMO could have more focus on drug-centric questions, of course with sensible connections between the two ....
