Minutes

Attendees: Egon, Elgar, Bosse, Anja, Jun, Matthias, Kei

Data Update - Discussed requirement for making Medicare data available as RDF for the Translational Medicine Ontology Use Case - Anja committed to making a version of the data available - Anja working to clean up STITCH

Data Quality - Discussed email thread that mentioned some data quality issues - Anja said that the thread was based on a misunderstanding, so there is nothing to fix - Anja will check that she didn't miss anything

Open Data - Discussed need to be very clear on licensing terms for the data sets that we are using - Need to be clear that we can not only convert data to RDF, but that we can also modify the data, and need to understand the implications of combining data sets - Need input from lawyers to truly understand licensing implications - W3C has a lawyer who may be able to help - A better option may be to approach John Wilbanks (Creative Commons) - Need to state the origin of the data - vOID could be used to help assign licensing information - This is being discussed in the newly started XG on provenance

Papers/Conferences - Should identify papers and/or conferences for presenting our work to help motivate us - Deadline for Semantic Web challenge has passed - Deadline for the AAAI Spring Symposium on Linked Data meetings AI is too close to aim for - BMC TCM has deadline in Jan 2010, so that's realistic - Deadline for ISMB is in JAn 2010, so that's also realistic - Let's make a decision during the next call
