25 Years of Memes

The Internet is ushering in a new golden age of animation and the sharability of GIFs and memes is helping it along. Unfathomable in an age without the Internet, the GIF is a new form of communication that emotes in ways that words cannot, while memes help us connect based on shared interests, with near infinite iterations and possibilities. Anyone with PhotoShop or Microsoft Paint can riff on a GIF or a meme, and surprise, inspire, or shock hundreds and thousands—with just the click of a button. We used the magic of the GIF to animate some of our favorite memes, and bring them to what we hope is the uber level of sharability.
