audio elements in vertical writing mode

    [22]https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2019D
    ec/0003.html

      [22]
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2019Dec/0003.html

    [23]https://github.com/w3c/clreq/issues/232

      [23] https://github.com/w3c/clreq/issues/232

clreq is discussing what audio elements should look like in
vertical writing mode, since horizontal audio controls take up
a lot of horizontal space, and that doesn't look good. Any
    comment/suggestion on this?

    <xfq>

      [24]
https://xfq.github.io/testing/i18n-personal-tests/audio-vertical.html

    xfq's demo:
    [25]https://xfq.github.io/testing/i18n-personal-tests/audio-ver
    tical.html

      [25]
https://xfq.github.io/testing/i18n-personal-tests/audio-vertical.html

xfq: the audio element overlaps with the text or takes a lot of
    space
... what is the correct layout? rotate 90 degrees? how should
    buttons be presented
... after requirements need to think we would like html spec to
    mention this normatively
    ... or leave to browsers

    addison: html or writing-modes?

    xfq: what about vertical forms?

    <r12a>
    [26]https://www.w3.org/International/articles/vertical-text/ind
    ex.en#forms

      [26]
https://www.w3.org/International/articles/vertical-text/index.en#forms

    r12a: here's a link
    ... not widely supported

bert: how common to put inline vs block element

    xfq: it's an inline element
    ... source in a div
... not sure of frequency. doesn't work now so people won't use

    r12a: could ask ttml?
... do they have experts who can comment since they work on
media; if experts exist, what result are we looking for?

<scribe> ACTION: xfq: write to ttml wg and ask after vertical
presentation of audio controls including an appropriate summary

<trackbot> Created ACTION-849 - Write to ttml wg and ask after
vertical presentation of audio controls including an
appropriate summary [on Fuqiao Xue - due 2019-12-19].

r12a: if goes anywhere, put in gap analysis for chinese
... could ask mongolian people also btw
... can raise question on mongolian repo
... so maybe xfq send an email to your contacts

    xfq: jlreq too?

    r12a: seems so
