Format for Policies Relating to Web Accessibility

Content Notes

do not include any editorial, summary, intrepretation, etc. that is beyond W3C scope. include only links, or direct quotes with link to reference

link both English and original language when available

remember to put <span lang="xx"> around languages other than en

use "Responsible Ministry" or "Jurisdiction" or "Responsible Department or Agency " as appropriate for each country/state/province

distinction between "Relevant documents" and "Additional information" a little vague - more official stuff in Relevant documents and less official stuff in Additional information

always include a "Legislation" section and a "Responsible Ministry / Jurisdiction / Responsible Department or Agency" section, and when there is no information available, put a dash (-)

if there is nothing for Related documents or Additional information, then do not include those section names

indicate broken links with [formerly at http...]

indicate non-standard web formats with [XYZ file], for exampple, [PDF file]

Points to note:

positive aspect: Puts emphasis on primary language document and shows English as a parenthetical translation
negative aspect: primary language of this Web page itself is English, and this format with the non-English language first makes it a bit more difficult to read the English
positive aspect: Avoids commas between main language and English (this significantly increases readability when there are commas in the document title, or when there are multiple documents that otherwise would be separated with commas)
positive aspect: Sets off dates with comma (rather than parenthesis or brackets), which is more common for reference listings
note: language indication is included with the linked text (so it shows up in link hopping and link lists, for example, when using screen readers)
