The validator doesn't seem to be able to validate gzipped SVG files. Try the following link: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fjwatt.org%2Fmoz%2Fcircles1.svgz&charset=%28detect+automatically%29
We actually do: http://qa-dev.w3.org/wmvs/HEAD/check?uri=http://jwatt.org/moz/circles1.svgz Though you should use 'gzip' rather than 'x-gzip'.
Maybe that one works, but I'm filing agains validator.w3.org - unless you think that it shouldn't work (in which case this should be WONTFIX). Where is the "find the right validator for you" link anyway?
I should have added that http://qa-dev.w3.org/ is our testbed server (as the homepage notes) and http://qa-dev.w3.org/wmvs/HEAD/ is our latest development version. validator.w3.org will be updated with the new code at some point and consequently pass your test case. There is no good end-user documentation for finding the right validator version though.
I see. Thanks Björn.
