<addison> https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/86ea031d-776b-426e-aa2a-bdf6ba6d50af/

addison: we have a bunch of TPAC prep
… with JSahleen's help, I pulled together an agenda parking lot ^
… which is the agenda for Monday
… you can see that the parking lot contains a bunch of things

ACTION: addison: send relevant emails requesting tpac stuff to member

<gb> Created action #193

Fwd: Requesting TAG attend your TPAC meetings

addison: TAG has a thing for requesting if people should come and see us
… do we want the TAG to come talk to us at TPAC?
… you don't have to answer that now, but we should at least think about it
… there are a few things we might talk to them
… they might be interested in DOM localization
… that would touch a lot of things
… ... the second thing is our glossary and the normativity question
… and how that relates to infra

Pointer Events 3 open issue

<addison> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-i18n-core/2025OctDec/0037.html

<addison> w3c/i18n-activity#1853

<gb> Issue 1853 ‘Logical’ values for the ‘touch-action’ property (by bert-github) [needs-resolution] [t:bidi_markup] [t:typ_logical_x] [s:pointerevents] [wg:pointer-events] [Agenda+]

addison: we have an open issue with pointer events 3
… which they've moved to pointer events 4
… are we okay with them pushinig this item to pointer events 4?

JSahleen: sounds good

My proposal for making WCAG non-western-centric

<addison> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-i18n-core/2025OctDec/0045.html

<atsushi> breakout

<gb> Issue 38 WCAG 2.2 and non-Latin languages (by iadawn) [session]

addison: we had an issue open, and we've discussed in the past
… WCAG guidelines are super Western-centric
… Murata-san pointed out how these things don't work
… that well with Japanese
… and the high-level discussions that we've had is Western-centric plus Japanese-specific things is still not complete
… they don't yet have a framework for collecting and managing these WCAG text presentation things

r12a: are these guys be at TPAC? because this would be a really useful session to participate in

addison: yes

JSahleen: there's a breakout link

addison: just because we don't know what the accessibility guidelines for line spacing for a particular script family doesn't mean that you don't have to think about it

r12a: you could say leave sufficient interline spacing

JSahleen: two questions
… 1. how this is related to the ruby agenda item?

addison: the ruby agenda is a very specific thing about ruby

addison: they recognize our comment that the world does not speak English
… but they're stuck with how do we know what the other guidelines should be
… and they took a stab at it with 6 representative languages

JSahleen: not broad enough

addison: that's an incomplete solution
… so we need to have more conversation with them

JSahleen: ok

addison: they're not going to have a complete encyclopedia of these things soon

r12a: yeah

addison: that's okay, what they need is a framework for this
… rather than trying to say, well, here's the best we can do

<JcK> presemt+ JcK

addison: we end up with English and Japanese, because thoese are all the people we know

ACTION: addison: contact WCAG about meeting at TPAC about language-related guidelines

<gb> Cannot create action. Error 500

Fwd: Ruby accessibility gap in WCAG and upcoming proposal for WCAG 2.3

<addison> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-i18n-core/2025OctDec/0044.html

JSahleen: this is the PDF thing

JcK: has anybody discussed this problem with ISO TC 46?

r12a:

JSahleen: the missing piece is not technical capability, but rather an absence of a requirement

addison: a WCAG requirement could say you need to use things to keep the ruby with the base text

ACTION: jsahleen: write back in support of adding ruby-base support in WCAG

<gb> Created action #194

ACTION: addison: contact WCAG about meeting at TPAC about language-related guidelines

<gb> Created action #195

AOB?

r12a: do we have a list of times that you're available to participate?
… JSahleen and addison

addison: I'll send you that for myself

JSahleen: I plan on dialing in on Monday
… that's probably the only time I'll be able to get in
… because the other overlaps with my tutorial at UTW

addison: safe travels

JcK: I look forward to the meeting notes
