Meeting minutes

Logistics

McCool: will have plugfest call right after this main call

ek: will chair that today

Minutes

<kaz> Sep-11

McCool: minutes were reviewed in the chairs call and already small fixes
… any objections to publications?

(none)

<kaz> approved

Quick Items

Eclipse Thingweb

<kaz> link for Eclipse Thingweb

McCool: anyone any info on this?

Ege: it costs money to attend and quite a bit, as Ege is a speaker no fees applied. He will talk about the Thingweb

WoT CG's video

McCool: video sumarry

<kaz> demo video on the TPAC 2024 page

Ege: videos from the meetups created to shown at TPAC, adoption of WoT across different organizations

McCool: Youtube picks some frames as thumbnail, can this be fixed

Ege: I will ask them to use a specific minute to be shown as the thumbnail

McCool: is there a description associated with it?

Ege: yes

McCool: Maybe a link back to WoT, and I hope it gets indexed on the first page

McCool: how long is it?

Ege: 2 minutes 34 seconds

Meetups

WoT CG

Ege: two other ones are scheduled, other one from Siemens - a new Edge application that uses WoT to onboard devices

McCool: I guess this links to a calander entry

Ege: yes

WoT JP CG

McCool: any other updates on meetups?

Mizushima: no updates from the Japanese community group

Liaisons

OPC

McCool: we have during the TPAC a meeting regarding OPC Foundation

<kaz> (Tuesday, 4pm CEST)

ETSI ISG CIM

McCool: we had a meeting last Friday, we will now proceed with another meeting on Monday October 14
… it will be immediately after the chairs call
… there is a calendar link for it, you can subscribe to it

<kaz> calendar for "WoT and NGSI-LD" liaison

Kaz: we invited people who are not WoT group members, but any WoT member can join, if you are interested in that area can join the next meeting

<kaz> mm: we're

Kaz: we are going to have a meeting every 2 weeks
… connecting FIWARE and WoT, a binding that FIWARE can use to publish TDs
… if you are interested, I think it will require a big investment in time
… I think we need to take volunteers who will take charge for the topics
… if you are interested in smart city and are situated in Europe there are alot of acitivities
… also the one in Japan

Schedule

Cancellations

Holidays and cancellations

McCool: I don't think the current holidays listed are blockers
… I assume the one on Oct 14, won't be a cancellation
… Nov 4, there will be no ETSI meeting scheduled
… Nov 5, US Election day, people in the US generally take that day off
… Nov 11, Remembrance Day, Michael McCool will attend the ETSI meeting

Publication schedule

<kaz> schedule.md

McCool: we discussed the schedule in the chairs call and the UC call, we originally had the due date of the use cases and requirement, we changed it to end of October
… when we publish the first working draft, and ask people to comment on it, it would be good to have the features documented and also published at the same time
… Discovery timeline mid-December will probably not work out, because we haven't been doing anything on Discovery
… any objections to the update on the schedule and proceeding with the PR?

(none)
… each TF should be reviewing their schedule

<McCool> w3c/wot#1206 merged, and the schedule.md has been updated

TPAC registration

McCool: we can invite people and in this way bypass the fee?

Kaz: if we invite member it still needs to be approved by the membership team, that procedure is already expired, and invited experts do not need to pay
… the bigger question at the moment is that the registration website is closed already, and will be opened again next week for the on-site registration

McCool: please plan to join at least the WoT calls
… here is the overall schedule:

https://www.w3.org/2024/09/TPAC/schedule.html

Cristiano: you said the registration is now closed, does this mean I can't join?

Kaz: You can register on Monday, will you participate remotely?

Cristiano: yes

TPAC WoT F2F

<kaz> TPAC 2024 WoT wiki

Joint Meeting

Cristiano: SDW is re-chartering
… Rob Atikenson, OGC deliverable
… Relationship to FIWARE and GSI-LD
… maybe we can invite them to the call
… Sebastian is organizing the NGSI-LD joint call
… make sure those are on your schedule

Breakouts

<kaz> TPAC breakouts

Cristiano: there are some redundancies in the interesting categories

Cristiano: the conflict section mean that people are chairing them and have to go to them, the exception is WebAPI is not really a conflict is one I want to go there
… we have for instance, Tooling in general

Ege: are you chairing this?

Ege: yes

<EgeKorkan> https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/e5cb0ff4-1696-4367-b9fe-9e74c5034dd3/

McCool: Michael McCool is updating the WiKi for F2F planning and the section breakouts

McCool: WoT topics are about the registries
… then we have non-wot topics that have a conflict
… then we have interesting thing
… then low priority topics

Kaz: In any case, there is a fixed table on all breakout sessions on the TPAC page, maybe we need to look at that too

<kaz> TPAC breakouts page

McCool: Web and generative AI risks is probably interesting to go too

<kaz> (McCool goes through the breakouts schedule table, and doesn't see big problems there)

McCool: two breakout sessions from us: LinkML, and registeries
… I think this is not a bad schedule, it looks pretty good from my point of view
… they have made some attempt to put topics into tracks

WoT agenda for TPAC

Usecases and Requirements

McCool: there are use cases and requirements in the Architecture, we need to discuss how to deal with that
… we will talk about the use case and requirements process
… I attempt to use in the example and requirements in the TD, we don't have time to deep-dive, we have a 30 min additional time in TD which we try to get some detailed issue,

Policies

McCool: if you want to comment on policies, now it is the time to do so, check the labels with Policy
… this is close to the final agenda, and maybe some last minute changes
… kaz, if there are any Policies that needs to be mentioned let me know
… I will be personally wear a mask myself, I think the general policy is up to you if you want to wear a mask or not
… i need to figure out a template and what we do on the opening session

<kaz> templates for slides (HTML)

McCool: anything else on the agenda

Kaz: there is an HTML template for the slides

Kaz: we can rather look into the previous slides for 2023

McCool: We (Kaz, Michael McCool) can sit down 15 minutes prior to the meeting and figure it out

TF Reports

McCool: is there any tf REPORT UPDATES?

(none)

Plugfest

Ege: Please think about until the meeting what devices you want to bring in the Plugfest

david: I have a couple of people who are considering to come to the Plugfest, they are not a W3C member, is today a good day that they should join?

Ege: they can join today if they can on short notice

Kaz: inviting people to TPAC is complicated but can invite them today or after TPAC. either is fine or both would be nicer :)

McCool: maybe it would be better to invite them to a future meeting about the plugfest
