Kaz: reviews agenda - liaison contacts and description, summer vacation and meeting schedule, other WoT members, workshop (Dave)
Kaz: also, Smart Cities IG
Liaison Table
McCool: I think this is probably informational at this point
Kaz: (reviews information)
<kaz> W3C Liaison table
Kaz: we do need a contact on the NGSI-LD side
Kaz: this is all under the ETSI liaison, but there are several groups involved
Martin: probably should be...
Martin: Franck Le Gall and Patrick Guillemin
McCool: suggest we pencil them in for now and confirm by email
<kaz> email archive
Kaz: also, if everyone can get a W3C account, we can add you to a mailing list.
Kaz: no fee or obligations, just to set up contact information
<kaz> https://
Kaz: next is scope document
Scope
<kaz> scope document
McCool: suggest we send around an email for comment, and consider it done if no-one comments in a week or two
Martin: the list of deliverables is a bit too concrete
McCool: agree, the simple liaison is just to discuss WHAT to do...
… at the very least, we should add a disclaimer to this section saying "The following have been discussed but have not been formally agreed to."
Martin: I think disclaimer is good enough.
Kaz: regarding the "Scope", we can start with simple text saying "We'd like to work together to identify the gaps between WoT Thing Description and NGSI-LD". Regarding the Deliverables, after the disclaimer, we can clarify both the documents are expected to be published by each side separately.
McCool: also we need to clarify who does what, e.g. the binding doc could also be published by ETSI
Kaz: (adds disclaimer to start of Deliverables section)
Schedule
McCool: vacation season has already started
Martin: last week of August can be OK but other weeks from August wouldn't
McCool: also we'll have TPAC in September
… 23-27 Sep
… we can meet during the week of Oct 7 after TPAC
Martin: our meeting will be 8-10 Oct
McCool: what about the following:
… week of Sep 9-13
… then Oct 14-18
… then every two weeks
… Friday is fine by me but awkward for Japan
… we can hold a Doodle poll again
Martin: Doodle poll would be better since we can't make decision now
McCool: let's list the candidates above
… with several possible time slots
… we'll talk about that during the next WoT Chairs call on Monday
Martin: maybe you can make some suggestions
McCool: let's assemble people's availability using Doodle
… we have know conflicts already
Martin: morning European time would not be good for us
McCool: maybe there could several possible candidates
Kaz: we can get information about availability/conflicts also on the email list
McCool: let's have preliminary discussion on the WoT side on Monday
Who/when to invite people
McCool: Editors of the WoT Thing Description and WoT Binding Templates
… a couple of more people should be invited for that purpose
… do you want to open up to many people?
… or limited people?
Martin: including interested people would be OK
McCool: we can limit it to WoT WG participants
… have to join the WoT WG or WoT IG to join the meeting
Kaz: right
… both WoT WG guys and WoT IG guys should be invited
Martin: what's the difference?
McCool: IG is Interest Group working on preliminary discussions
… while WG is working on standards
… easier to publish an IG Note first
… then specific WG Note possibly
Kaz: we can think about the detail later
… but starting with IG Notes sounds reasonable
McCool: Notes are relatively easier to be published
… once we've fixed the time slot, we can invite people
… we can use ordinary W3C Calendar to let people know about the schedule
Smart Cities
Kaz: mentioned during previous calls - Smart Cities IG has been chartered now
<kaz> Web-based Digital Twins for Smart Cities Interest Group Charter
Kaz: official announcement today or Monday
… mission is identifying use cases and requirements for Smart Cities in general, but also a focus on Digital Twins
… also includes intention to align with internal groups like WoT but external groups like FiWare
… want to discuss what should be standardized, identify gaps, etc.
… Michael Koster is one of the chairs of this group
… also groups beside WoT that would be good to coordinate with, e.g. SDW (Spatial Data on the Web)
AIOTI Semantic Interoperability Workshop
<draggett> AIOTI: https://
Dave: this group hosts a combination of activities related to what we have been talking about
… also includes edge computing
… Martin and I are both involved
… what we would like to discuss is translating recommended practices from research into practice, especially around semantics and IoT
… and also discuss research priorities
… still at an early stage
… not a W3C workshop as such
… looking at hosting at ERCIM
… INRIA campus
… by November, hope to have a better idea
Dave: probably November, south of France (near Nice)
<draggett> INRIA campus, Sophia Antipolis
McCool: in Nov, we'll have another event in Munich, WoT Week
… in sequence with JSON Week
<sebastian> I have a question to Dave: is there a relation to Margo? https://
Dave: not sure about Margo...
Sebastian: taking care of Edge computing
McCool: would be good to avoid a direct conflict with WoT Week (around Nov 27) - so the week directly before or after would be good
… WoT Week will be in Munich
Dave: see also https://
Kaz: Dave, do you want someone from WoT join the workshop?
McCool: will you have a CFP and reviews?
Dave: not purely academic
McCool: is remote attendance possible?
(can be considered)
<draggett> more industry focussed than academic
