janina: One announcement: I wil be moving at the beginning of August. all of my participating in everything W3C is up in the air the first days of August.

janina: I did find a place in NYC last week and I will be moving.

Fredrik: I will be vactioning until August 9.

Nichole: I will be out the next two weeks for business travel. I wil be back for the meeting on August 2.

janina: Possibly I will be here then, but we don't know.

<PaulG> (running late to the call)

Roy: I will be available for all of August at least.

Charter Update https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/apa-wg-recharter/results

janina: Still trying to resolve things with the non-blocking objection.

janina: It is on the agenda until it's a done deal. We hope it willbe a done deal by August, may be even by next week.

TPAC 2023 Planning - https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Meetings/TPAC_2023

janina: We are busy-busy-busy!

janina: We had a meeting witht he Media IG yesterday. In the e-mail following we got a good list of what they are looking at.

janina: Some of it was encouraging, other things were concerning.

janina: I will forward this e-mail to this list.

janina: We have committed to update the MAUR 2.0.

janina: They are leaving HTML for a Canvas environment.

PaulG: If you put interactable content in the noscript part of a canvas tag today, that content can be focusable. In that case, you can make canvas content accessible. Would WHATWG be on the hook for wriitn that into the spec (since it is a working undocumented feature)?

janina: It wasn't as well documented as it should have been coming out of creating 5.

janina: Anything bitmap and you're basically either reinventing a11y or thumbing your nose at it.

janina: A very useful exchange with Media.

janina: Apple is actively moving to use heuristics and trap flashing.

janina: We will continue that convo at TPAC.

janina: Some of things relate to EPUB (in a maintenance mode), some might relate to ARIA and so on.

janina: #tpac We#re holding out for a scheduled meeting with TAG.

<Roy> https://www.w3.org/2023/09/TPAC/Overview.html

janina: There is a hardship fund for financing TPAC participation. The deadline for that is very soon.

Roy: The hardship fund is open until September 2, so not that soon.

Nichole: What is Maturity Model?

janina: We are writing a Maturity Model through which an organization of any size (there's quite a lot of diferent oranizations participating in the project). The idea is that it is a way to track over time a whole series of relevant dimensions.

janina: It is web-based because most everything is web-based today.

janina: The idea is that we have a standardized model. The write-up of all these dimensions and the ways to track and the things to consider, the text of that is going to be finisehd soemtime this time next year.

janina: After that, we will be focusing on writing an HTML-based frontend for the respective organszation's database (no single database, that would b etoo thorny legally).

Nichole: As a part of another effort my company is involved in, we built something around the education space. We developed a maturity model as well, focusing on diffrerent aspects. We developed a tool taht allows us to put hte MM together in any dimension.

Nichole: I'm curious to se if we can use our tool to be able to generate that multidimensionality for you.

janina: You are most definitely welcome!
