Meeting minutes

minutes

Nov-15

approval of Nov 15 minutes

Ege: agreed to merge PRs on timezone updates, issue discussions, logistics (call slot doodle), closing outreach issue

McCool: to clarify, I can usually make this slot

Ege: any objections to the minutes?

Ege: hearing no objections, approved

timeslot

Ege: meant to send an email; but Daniel and Cristiano have conflicts
… so for now we decided to only have a 30m call and start 30m later

McCool: ok with me\

Kaz: what is more important is who is expected to attend
… today only three people; is four people enough for this work?

Ege: from my point of view it is enough; the question is it enough for consensus

McCool: ok to have a small number if the tasks are focused on website maintenance etc.
… however, reviews of content of external communication should go to the main call

Kaz: do you need chairs and team contact regularly

Ege: chairs does not need to be regular; for team contact, I can now do most of the tasks

McCool: suggest we have a once-a-month with chairs and team contact

Ege: so suggest next week we do a non-special meeting, then dec 6, will have a special meeting (with chairs and team contact)
… except; is Dec 6 a public holiday

dape: is something starting on the 8, but the 6th should be ok

McCool: also, is monthly every four weeks, or first meeting every month?

Ege: first week makes more sense

dape: what is policy for PR merging?

McCool: I am ok with ege and dape using their judgement for what kinds of things can be merged immediately and what needs group input

Kaz: also ok, want you to consider writing a policy

Ege: ok, resolution for today is on the schedule, will do policy next week
… can bring draft of policy to dec 6 meeting

PRs

PR 359

<kaz> PR 359 - Additional links

Ege: updating links to videos and tools
… and also a discussion of video sorting; but that will have to be dealt with later

dape: in the past we agreed to sort by date, in reverse order

McCool: however, a strict chronological order may mean that important and useful videos get buried down in the list
… so we need some categories

McCool: could also have more than one ordering, using a tab or selector or different pages

Ege: any objections to this PR

Ege: none -- merged

PR 358

Ege: adds link to discovery explainer

McCool: as long as this is just a link, and not a copy, is ok

Ege: any objections to merging?
… none - merging

Issue 353

<kaz> Issue 353 - Images in Explainer do not stretch properly

Ege: suggest closing, since is now obsolete
… (closes, without merging)

PR 357

<kaz> PR 357 - Articles Page

Ege: started to gather links to articles
… but we need to consider who reviews list, bias, what if the person editing the list also wrote an article, etc.
… and then there are articles that are incorrect or a different version of WoT
… have talke to Coralie about this also

Ege: started writing something, but we need more input

Kaz: if we would like to have this kind of page that lists relevant resources, then we would need this kind of policy
… but would like to suggest we start with some suggested searches like "W3C Web of Things"
… defining concrete policy for relevance is going to be difficult

McCool: we can also have a small list; quality over quantity

Ege: we can focus on things where we have been involved, eg. as reviewers or authors

Kaz: agree with mm; lets start with resources we have generated ourselves

Ege: ok, let's discuss review of third-party articles next time

Kaz: also, review of articles, etc. is beyond the scope of what the IG/WG is chartered for

Ege: (writes comments on PR 357)
