Meeting minutes

New IE request

Kaz: working on request from Elodie Thieblin's IE application

Minutes

-> July-27

<Sebastian walks over previous minutes>

Sebastian: Minutes good to me. Any objections to make minutes public?

--> none -> minutes approved

Quick updates

Sebastian: WG charter extension has been approved
... please note: everyone needs to rejoin the WG

McCool: you need to ask AC rep

Lagally: I was implementing a PR and noticed issues with Github
… e.g., creating branches and such does not work

Sebastian: w.r.t. cancellation.. I am not aware of any cancellations

McCool: many people go on vacation
… shall we cancel calls over the next weeks
… for example SK is not available the next weeks
… I suggest to keep the calls

Sebastian: Right, I am not available next week ... but back the week after
… starting from 22 of August I am on vacation

McCool: Should check next week again

Lagally: We decided to make profile/arch next week..
… however, I am not available next weeks
… I assume we should cancel all Arch calls in August

McCool: w.r.t. discovery and security we will discuss in the task force next week

Daniel: scripting also skips 2 calls in August

McCool: please update wiki section

Sebastian: What about pre-TPAC PlugFest in Aug 29 - Sept 2

McCool: Right, might be difficult
… maybe post TPAC PlugFest

<Sebastian cleaning up cancellation section on wiki page>

McCool: lets postpone use-case call after TPAC
… same for DTDL

Lagally: use-case call during TPAC?

McCool: 4 hours total...
… one day full of joint calls

Lagally: Other groups to talk to...
… eg. Automotive

McCool: Yes, let's discuss this in TPAC slot

McCool: please send email about cancellations to me

TPAC 2022

-> TPAC 2022 WoT wiki

Sebastian: Note: early bird registration ends end of the week

Sebastian: Joined meetings planned

McCool: spatial data on the web.. not meeting
… decided to do that after TPAC

Sebastian: DID?

McCool: Manu Sporny will join us
… new stuff about signature etc
… can discuss with them

Sebastian: JSON-LD
… talked to Kellog
… focus is YAML
… I don't see any urgent topic

Sebastian: suggest not having a meeting

McCool: YAML should be in our next charter
… we have assertions with alternative content encoding
… e.g. test gzipped JSON

Kaz: wondering if there is really nothing to be discussed with the JSON-LD WG. Don't we have any remaining issues about how to deal with IDs and versions, reference for external resources, etc.?

Sebastian: At the moment no real issue that comes to my mind
… at the moment we are happy
… signature and canonicalization is done linked data group

David: at Connexion we use YAML extensively
… things YAML can do.. that JSON can do
… but easy to stay away from it

McCool: corner cases in YAML that need to be resolved
… validation still bugs me
… validating TD

Sebastian: SHACL validator ?

McCool: I mean properly ... validating an extension

Sebastian: not sure if this a topic of JSON-LD wg

Sebastian: Suggest we wait for the YAML outcome from JSON-LD wg
… I like having comments in YAML

Sebastian: IF we want to have a meeting with JSON-LD... please contact me

<mjk> +1 for YAML serialization. It is becoming the more preferred format

Sebastian: at the moment I don't think this is urgent at the moment

<dezell> +1

Sebastian: Suggest to talk with Automotive

<mjk> We are also working to formalize how extensions work in SDF, possibly with extension schemas

Kaz: one of the expected topics is vehicle ontology

McCool: Suggest to look at schedule
… can have one more joint call?
… APA?

Sebastian: I think it is already tight
… using breakout time?

McCool: breakout is demo time

Sebastian: We can ask APA for availability

McCool: Yes, let's do that
… we can squeeze the slots a bit

McCool: ask both, SDW and APA?
… first day .. talking about new charter
… second day.. having a proposal

Kaz: I thought we were planning to have another dedicated 1-week meeting before TPAC
… could use that time as well

McCool: Pre-TPAC meetings
… we should get it organized
… who can make it?

Sebastian: will be on vacation

McCool: issue: first week of school
… maybe do it after TPAC?

Sebastian: sounds good

Kaz: We should use main call slot for initial charter discussion

McCool: Yes, suggest to have all main calls in August
… so that we are better prepared

Kaz: Continue discussion after TPAC is nice

McCool: Monday Sep 12 ... initial discussions
… on Monday.. we should look at deliverables and their status
… CG relations et cetera

Kaz: initial discussion summarizing current status

McCool: I will work on Monday schedule

Kaz: w.r.t. OpenDay slot
… remove the slot during TPAC?
… move it to post TPAC

McCool: let's schedule OpenDay separately

McCool: will contact SDW and APA
… and squeeze them in if available

Publications

Thing Description

<sebastian> TD 11 WD4

Sebastian: TD1.1 WD4 has been released
… will be last WD before going to CR

Kaz: sorry but there was some confusion about the publication procedure, and would like to improve it next time.

Wide Review action item

<dape> SK: feedback from TAG

<dape> ... https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Main_WoT_WebConf#Wide_Review

Sebastian: no feedback with discovery yet

McCool: noticed 2 internationalization issues
… expect those 2 it looks good

Sebastian: security/privacy ?

McCool: will talk to APA

Sebastian: Summary: most relevant feedback is TAG review
… should look into it in Arch call

Lagally: We received couple of things

McCool: TAG issues apply to discovery and TD as well
… problem .. untestable assertions

Sebastian: Update - publication process w.r.t. discovery

McCool: ready.. wait till Kaz finds the time..

Kaz: Working on it

Testing

Sebastian: TD testing look good
… still some issues left ... can be solved in CR phase

McCool: in general TD and discovery are in good shape
… should work on security issues
… suggest not rush in CR
… fixing in CR is more problematic
… manual assertions need more work
… Architecture need more work

Review Charter Extensions and Renewal

Sebastian: Charter extension ongoing
… will discuss this at TPAC as well

McCool: Suggest to have MD file for each feature
… added template

<sebastian> https://github.com/w3c/wot/issues/978

Liaisons

Sebastian: active planning w.r.t. OPC UA
… doodle still open, https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/bk53MnYe
… next week we miss Erich and M-Lagally
… we plan to extend doodle poll with additional options
… I hope we can find slot in September
… suggest to have a small meeting before that.. w.r.t. business discussions

WoT CG

<Zakim> Ege_, you wanted to discuss AOB

Ege: Kick-off meeting took place
… charter review process ends next week
… please provide feedback

Kaz: technically CG can do anything on their own. However, we need to clarify CG's dependency on the WoT IG/WG and also potential impact for the IG/WG Charters. So please clarify what to be done by which group.

Ege: BTW, 1 month ago we were approached by JSON Schema people

<Ege_> https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/issues/329

<Ege_> https://hackmd.io/@egekorkan/json-schema-wot

Ege: about use case study
… will be work from WG
… please review
… everyone can comment hackmd document

TF Reports

McCool: Security looked into TAG issues

Lagally: Profile: send doodle poll, we try to give more time to work on it

Sebastian: TD takes place in 1 hour... plan CR transition

Lagally: Can join first 30 minutes

Sebastian: Great

Ege: Farshid can join "required" discussion in 2nd hour
