xfq: They said this was their last CR blocker, so they want a quick response.

<addison> close action-1131

<trackbot> Closed action-1131.

r12a: They haven't replied to us yet.

Info Share

r12a: I published something about pronouncing Ukrainian names.

RADAR Review

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-request/projects/1

addison: We got a request to review WebGPU. Who wants to review it?
… They did a checklist. So they probably want an i18n request.

r12a: It's actually two documents.

atsushi: First published last May, but the WD and the ED should be the same.

xfq: I can review it.

addison: About Secure Payment Confirmation: I have comments, but only about language metadata. What to do? Wait for the TAG's opinion on that matter?

ACTION: addison: contact ian about spc comments vs. tag conversation

<trackbot> Created ACTION-1132 - Contact ian about spc comments vs. tag conversation [on Addison Phillips - due 2022-04-07].

r12a: Ask Ian if they can wait longer?

Specdev text regarding identifiers

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/bp-i18n-specdev/pull/61

<addison> https://pr-preview.s3.amazonaws.com/aphillips/bp-i18n-specdev/pull/61.html#markup_identifiers

addison: We discussed last time. I made updates. Moved the mustard higher up. Ready to merge?
… Anybody needs more time to look at it?

<atsushi> +1 (read offline)

xfq: I looked and it looks good.

addison: So publish?

ACTION: addison: merge specdev pull 61 and publish

<trackbot> Created ACTION-1133 - Merge specdev pull 61 and publish [on Addison Phillips - due 2022-04-07].

r12a: Yes
… We had a problem before with the GitHub create checkbox, class name. Your merge will not overwrite that?

addison: No, I merged previously.

r12a: Might want to test it anyway.

Canvas formatted text

<xfq> https://github.com/WICG/canvas-formatted-text/issues/36

xfq: We discussed this before and Addison commented. Currently it is a tracker issue. Do we want to chnage that? Also, I saw there were suggestions about terminology, what were they?

addison: Mostly about Unicode jargon: grapheme cluster, code point, etc.

ACTION: addison: create PR against canvas formatted text

<trackbot> Created ACTION-1134 - Create pr against canvas formatted text [on Addison Phillips - due 2022-04-07].

Make autospace a property, rather than a value of text-spacing

<addison> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2022Mar/0015.html

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/7183

r12a: Wondering if people have an opinion.

<xfq> https://www.w3.org/TR/2011/WD-css3-text-20110412/#text-autospace-prop

<xfq> https://www.w3.org/TR/2011/WD-css3-text-20110901/#text-autospace

xfq: What r12a says in the issue makes sense.

<xfq> ^ compare these two drafts

r12a: People get dazzled. I think there are multiple things going on, spacing marks, auto-spacing... CSS kind of lumped them together.

xfq: And there is also justification.

<r12a> https://r12a.github.io/scripts/jpan/#letterspace

r12a: I tried to describe how it works here ^^
… And it was easier to explain when split.

<xfq> https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/4246

addison: Tag this as "needs-resolution"?

xfq: There some 700 possible combinations of values for text-spacing.

xfq: In #6950

<xfq> https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6950

xfq: I agree it should be "needs-resolution".

addison: Any objections?

ACTION: RI to add to issue https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/7183 that need to allow numbers and alphas to behave separately too - and mark as needs-resolution

<trackbot> Created ACTION-1135 - Add to issue https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/7183 that need to allow numbers and alphas to behave separately too - and mark as needs-resolution [on Richard Ishida - due 2022-04-07].

addison: r12a, can you do that?

CSS Text pending issues

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/1472

r12a: A lang value would allow breaking at word boundaries in Japanese. In Thai, people would like to be able to turn it off.
… In some SE Asian scripts, you'd need to recognize syllables instead.
… The proposed property 'word-boudary-detection' for CSS has a language as value.
… I think that is weird. You already know the language.
… Fantasai said it was intended to specify for *which* language it was turned on, not to select a language to use the rules from.
… Could have a list of several languages.

+1

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/1473

RESOLUTION: make 1472 into a comment.

r12a: A word boundary should be invisible to justification.

Two SVG issues

RESOLUTION: 1473 also accepted as comment.

ACTION: RI send css-text issues with needs-resolution label

<trackbot> Created ACTION-1136 - Send css-text issues with needs-resolution label [on Richard Ishida - due 2022-04-07].

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/209

<addison> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/587

<xfq> https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/pull/522/files

<atsushi> +1

xfq: We said they should mention Grapheme Cluster. They said they already linked to CSS. Are we OK with that?

addison: Looks good to me.

<xfq> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/587

xfq: I will reply and close the issue.

xfq: They changed to match language tags case-insensitively. They don't say ASCII-case-insensitive, but language tags are normally ASCII. Good enough?

addison: Looks good to me.

<atsushi> +1 either w/ or w/o

<r12a> https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/commit/4595f3527f71fe10420af55941b2303c28ac1418

atsushi: Should we ask to change line 1654 in ^^ ?

r12a: Seems fine as is.

Response to TAG

xfq: I will reply and close the issue.

<addison> https://github.com/w3ctag/design-reviews/issues/716

addison: I could probably do some code example, as requested in a comment.

<xfq> https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues/360

indexed-db issue

xfq: I have an Indexed DB issue
… About unique key
… I see r12a is satisfied with their resolution. Are we satisfied?

addison: It is not an i18n issue.

r12a: And the tag I added was just to sync the repos. OK to close it.

RESOLUTION: close issue 360

AOB?
