Meeting minutes

Previous Minutes

-> Jan-19

<Sebastian walks over minutes>

Sebastian: mentioning of IEEE contribution should move up
… to ITU-T section

Kaz: fixed

Sebastian: The rest looks good, any objection?
… no objections > approved

Quick updates

Editors' sync-up call on Tuesday

McCool: talked about Extension plan
https://github.com/w3c/wot/blob/main/charters/wg-2021-extension-plan.md
… extended by some weeks to give us more time
… it is checked in... but we still need to approve the dates

Sebastian: Yes, since we need a date for the TestFest

McCool: Mid march for TestFest might need to be to be shifted
… Note: it is extended to full 12 months period

<kaz> Wide Review Guide

Sebastian: I looked into "wide review" guidelines
… each task force has to go through the questionnaire
… wonder whether we have to select "WD that is moving to CR soon"

McCool: I suggest "FPWD"

Sebastian: For all documents?

McCool: For some, TD might be different

Sebastian: Wonder also about the required dates to enter? 2 dates?

McCool: date of request and date of deadline

Sebastian: I see, will start with TD

McCool: How long is the review period? 2 months?
… maybe 3 months?

Lagally: Would like to show roadmap of profile/architecture
… <MLagally showing updated roadmap>
… Feb 2, clarify requirements
… identify gaps, 1-2 calls
… contributions to resolve normative gaps, 2 month?
… Jan 23, REC transition
… CR, end of July 2022
… will upload the roadmap

Ege: should be strict about scope: PlugFest vs TestFest
… I suggest to have a PlugFest .. besides TestFest in March
… we did not use Profile in PlugFest before

McCool: ML suggests to have it next to each other

Ege: Suggest to have 2 different weeks

McCool: holiday week March 7, maybe one before and one after this week
… let's discuss this in testing call

Lagally: I can attend only 10 minutes of the testing call

Kaz: Agree, details should be discussed in testing call

WoT Japanese CG updates

Mizushima: kick-off session on Jan 28
… also published on events page
… plan to have events w.r.t. ECHONET and publishing industry

IG Rechartering

Sebastian: IG rechartering was accepted

Kaz: W3M is discussing this topic now and I'll work on official announcement later once getting approval

WG Charter Extension

Sebastian: Draft WG Charter for 12mo extension available
https://www.w3.org/2021/11/wot-wg-charter.html

Sebastian: Need horizontal review

Kaz: Talked with PLH
… need to create dedicated issue
… horizontal review from security etc
… PLH asks W3M for 4mo extension for that procedure (horizontal review + AC review following that)

WG Rechartering AFTER the 12mo extension

Sebastian: draft available also
https://w3c.github.io/wot/charters/wot-wg-2022-draft.html

Lagally: w.r.t. use-cases , we should check our documents
… also w.r.t. ideas of re-chartering

Sebastian: I started to take a look at it already in TD

McCool: I think we need to work on gathering common requirements

Discuss decision process

Sebastian: see https://github.com/w3c/wot/pull/1005
… don't know how to proceed
… suggest each task-force should make a decision
… in TD it worked well

McCool: I suggest to have a common norm
… and need to write it down
… proposal is a bit long... need to break things
… maybe document our current procedure
… like a DECISION.md file
… let's talk in chairs call

Lagally: We talked in Arch task force
… editorial issues asynchronously
… for other issues/PR we should do that in the call

McCool: Suggest to think about Ben's proposal

Publications

Sebastian: WoT Use Cases updated Note and TD 1.1 2nd WD to be published. - ongoing

Sebastian: Kaz is working on the documents

McCool: Discovery needs to do that soon also

… not sure about 1 chair or more?

Sebastian: I cannot choose anyone ?#

McCool: same for me, Kaz can cominate
… let's ping W3C folks

<kaz> Click "LOGIN TO NOMINATE CHAIRS" button on the participants page

McCool: Should decide on number of chairs
… maybe in marketing call

Lagally: I ask the WoT WG Chairs how many chairs are envisioned for the WoT CG
… decision of working group

McCool: to many chairs complicate decision process

McCool: original idea was one chair.., the one from marketing
… or at least co-chair of marketing

… for 3 we need to have a good reason
