TPAC planning
i18n issue #144
<sharon> https://
sharon: I pulled from the wiki. talked about Ruby mark up / use cases & expanding on demo and examples of LtoR and we need RtoL and some paragraphs off of wiki-how, and 1st paragraph of Tail of Two Cities
… , if you have single symbols per word this should work.
… , before the word images if you reverse it should still have the image before the word.
janina: we did indeed discussed Ruby as a parallel case but we shouldn't follow the Ruby as a way to do this.
… , to the video demo or markup some Right to Left example, a multi lingual document might be useful.
… , "man bites dog" vs "dog bites man"
… , greek highly inflected language, if we can create anything that RtoL and shows it still working a Hebrew example would be good.
Lionel_Wolberger: I took this action item, I have put a call out and will find someone RtoL in symbols an expert in this field.
janina: I think thats the best to do.
Matthew_Atkinson: Richard said Ruby is conceptually but it is not what we can use here as it would be used incorrectly.
… , if there is a flow with some text and you set the direction correctly, if we are replacing the text with no text and therefore wouldn't be properly reversed since there is no longer any text.
… , I agree we need examples, I can add examples I made if I remove the text to see what happens.
sharon: Anything else on this?
janina: I think so.
Charles: I don't have a lot of publishers that do RtoL, but Bookshare does have some RtoL EPUBs.
Janina: multiline braille displays are coming on the market mainly for graphics but still work.
TPAC planning
Janina: Tues/Thur of week 2, our times are in limbo at this point.
… , we are looking to scheduling some multi hour meetings,
… , I need to nail that down with ARIA, WAI glossary with Judy & Michael, for QC can refer these glossaries.
… , week 1 is only for break out sessions.
… , this is different from last year.
… , cross group and multi hour meetings is only in week 2.
… , our meetings with COGA is currently unscheduled. we may still have it.
Becky: it currently says confirmed.
Becky: Coga didn't confirm yet so its not 100% we will get this meeting.
… , session ideas Coga, content needs 2 sessions currently listed.
Glossary for Personalization -- do we need one?
sharon: this is for Coga, do we need to come up with some words here? our definitions would end up there right?
janina: yes
sharon: if we did want to capture this…
janina: we have a google doc on this.
… , I will get the link.
<janina> https://
Lionel_Wolberger: I have an action in APA to read this other glossary, this can be a huge rabbit hole. we as a group took if we need to define, attributes/semantics, and shouldn't need to define personalization terms.
… , Coga document we only use two words in their glossary
… , W3C also has a glossary
… , has a huge scope.
janina: is there a different one from W3C WAI?
Lionel_Wolberger: I will find it.
Progress on the Personalization deck for TPAC
Matthew_Atkinson: Lisa and I met last week and chatted about this, I have lots of notes to be added, and I have 2 presentations I have a lot of material to integrate, and what should be focused on we discussed.
… , I will send in a Pull Request one done.
Lionel_Wolberger: did you get that BBC deck?
Blockers to CR? write up from John on issue #170
Lionel_Wolberger: btw making that deck was really helpful.
sharon: John did close this overcome by events/time. relating to media queries.
Matthew_Atkinson: is there a public URL for that,
janina: Yes there is an APA videos page. I will get it
<janina> https://
becky: there is a useful links page from the APA's main page.
sharon: other than i18n there are no other blockers. and we figured out how we will move on for that blocker.
Update on CR template, first draft done
<becky> APA Wiki main page > https://
sharon: I sent the template,
<becky> APA key resources page > https://
Lionel_Wolberger: I read it and I think it is good and it is ready. it does discuss module 1 and also goes wider but if we send it to the group to see what they think.
sharon: after we look at it then we should send it to Shawn.
janina: Yes.
