Publication announcements https://www.w3.org/WAI/cc/wiki/WAI_Announcement_Drafts

[Introductions]

JO: Apologizes to Shawn. Roy was super-helpful about announcements. It suddenly just worked. Everything is there for Shawn to do what she needs to. If she needs anything to reach out.

JB: If it isn't on the WAI home page, it isn't done.

JO: It is all queued up to go, but we haven't published because there was another round of feedback.

JB: Did Shawn have a chance to give feedback on the announcements for XAUR?

JO: Yes.

Janina: The announcement was in the mailbox overnight, so I assumed it was overnight. SLH said that she would have to finish the announcements

JO: I am now more comfortable with the process now. I feel better about the process and the future publications will be more smooth.

Janina: We have another for you in a few weeks.

JB: Any other upcoming publications?

Janina: Personalization is one issue left before CR. We have had trouble getting attention on it because of August.

JB: Do you want me to contact Internationalization?

Janina: Please do. I will email the issue number to you

GK: In the publishing community group, we have a report that will be finished on Accessibility MetaData.
… On 7 September we will be all done. Currently adding alt text and minor adjustments.

JB: Please contact Shawn, she will need 5 day turnaround.

Scribe, rssagent, agenda check. (Please add your present+ to IRC)

Any new documents in your WG or TFs to let other WAI WGs or TFs know about?

JB: Any new documents?

<ChrisLoiselle> Jeanne: We will be doing an explainer to go with WCAG3

<ChrisLoiselle> Judy: What type ? Public ?

<ChrisLoiselle> Jeanne: Yes, but we are trying to follow TAG format

<ChrisLoiselle> Judy: Not sure TAG would be needed.

<ChrisLoiselle> Jeanne: framework fits. We will taking design decisions and making that public

Janina: We had a problem in APA that a TAG Explainer wanted to be much shorter.

JB: The needs are different from the Explainer and what the TAG needs doesn't necessarily align to what the public needs.

Jeanne: I find that very helpful to not have to follow the TAG format.

TPAC planning, anything to promote, anything stuck?

<janina> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Meetings/TPAC_2021

JB: We are getting close to TPAC. Last time we got an update on joint meetings. There are a few session opportunities left.

Janina: THis is an active APA page and expect to get dates and times in the next week.

JB: Does anyone feel uncertain about TPAC?

[no answers]

Janina: There is a proposal on the table to create a WAI-wide glossary
… there was an announcement this morning that videos were due. APA got a lot of milage from videos that APA did last year and plan to do another videos this year.
… it went to the chairs list.

JB: Was it aligned with lightning talk list?

Janina: No, it was from Dom.

JB: Are the task force facilitators engaged about TPAC.

CL: I spoke with Jon Avila and ShawnH. We are having our first meeting next week. We aren't going to have a breakout session.

<Judy> https://www.w3.org/2021/10/TPAC/Overview.html

<Judy> Basic info on this year's TPAC is here: https://www.w3.org/2021/10/TPAC/Overview.html

KP: I discussed with Roy whether to have a meeting with COGA. I'm not sure where that proposal is.
… Roy is helping with getting more members.

Judy: Talks to TPAC and synergy between groups , etc. In a Zoom world, we should be pre-planning where we can

Jeanne: We are talking about breakout sessions and our contributions on our efforts.

Tzviya: I agree with Judy. On travel restrictions, I find tools we could use in a virtual space could be beneficial. Let us map out what we can do for next 6 months plus. I'd love to hear from the group.

<Zakim> tzviya, you wanted to add to what Judy said

Judy: I do enjoy Mindly as a mind mapping tool. It is accessible. Can generate HTML and text , could be simple mapping tool to use.

Judy: We are looking at tools and accessibility of those tools and document those issues where we can .

Kathy: I found TPAC in person to be helpful. Our group is very small right now , so increasing membership is a goal. At moment, we don't have specific meetings set, but work in progress.

Judy: Michael can help as team contact w/ TPAC

Judy: Try to plan ahead to engage as much as you can, where you can.

Zakim , next item

<Zakim> Judy, you wanted to comment on "mindly" which seems to be an accessible mind-mapping app

Checking in on glossary

Janina: We want this to be an item that we can discuss. We are looking for general agreement and makes sense to do.

Janina: We hope to scrape glossary terms and cross reference. We'd then id reference and build glossary on fly as a resource.

Judy: Thank you. Could I ask for reactions please ?

Jeanne: We think this will be very helpful in WCAG3 work. Having a standard definition is going to clarify things.

KimP: This is needed and will help. There may be place where things are explained differently, say a dictionary may be beneficial , rather than straight glossary.

I.e. first definition and second.

KimP: Recognizing where somethings are defined in different context and why

Judy: Does that work for you , Janina?

Janina: I would say we would provide a id ref to definition 1 and then another to definition 2. I.e. media as a term.

Tzviya: I have some experience in text books setting, so please reach out to me if you'd like.

Janina: Thanks!

Janina: Half day meeting in week 2 right now. In flux, may change on how much time dedicated to discussing this topic of Glossary at TPAC

Judy: I would bet larger than an hour, less than half a day.

George: Are you looking at the process for the editorial aspect?

Janina: Yes.

Janina: We'd start scraping glossary terms and then maintenance will be an issue.

Proposed new ARIA Charter https://raw.githack.com/w3c/aria/charter-2021/charter.html

Judy: Charters typically renewed on two to three year basis.

Judy: Will you be reviewing proposed charter?

Tzviya: I will , yes.

Judy: Kathy? will you be reviewing?

Kathy: Yes, we have rules around roles, so I will review.

Judy: Please review dependencies and whether or not your group would interact with the group.

Judy: You can raise issues in GitHub if you'd like. That is the area to file issues and comments

Follow up on W3C calendaring, issues filed, addressed, next: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wai-cc/2021Jul/0004.html

Judy: Talks to calendar issues and resolution of accessibility issues. Bugs need to be filed.

Janina: My turn is next week on calendar, there were issues on other maintainer attempting.

Judy: Can we capture the bugs so they can be addressed?

Judy: Do you know if Becky logged why she couldn't use it ?

Janina: I'm not sure , it was around agenda items.

Janina: I will ask her to log the issues she encountered.

Judy: Do you want me to include Phillipe or others that are developing the calendar on a call?

Janina: I'll be trying next week and will report back.

Janina: I love the idea of integrating it.

Kathy: Where should issues be filed for it?

Judy: I will follow up on the link to file issues against calendar

<tzviya> https://github.com/w3c/calendar

Tzviya: Placed link above , thanks!

<janina> https://www.w3.org/Guide/meetings/organize.html

https://github.com/w3c/calendar is the link to use

Checking back in on multi-stakeholder representation in WGs and TFs

Judy: does anyone have any question or comment on this topic?

Judy: please update the milestones, if they have not been updated. Reference to charter needs to be updated as needed.

Reminder, staff transition planning

Judy: Shadi is moving on to another org. We are planning around transition. Happy to speak to anyone about scheduling. Kathy, look forward to speaking with you in particular on your areas of interest.

Judy: We do have a job position open, if you are interested, please do share.

Judy: Next meeting will be September 8th , please send regrets in advance
