Agenda Review & Announcements

janina: it's time to start talking TPAC, this will start being a standard agenda item for the coming months.

janina: Any announcements?

Charter Updates

janina: By process we are required to get votes, passing 5 percent of actual plus-ones, for a charter to pass.

MichaelC: 23 positives, 24 required. Another vote required.

janina: Reminder to those whose organizations are members: please have your AC-REP send in their vote for the APA-WG charter.

JF: Offer= to poke the Deque people in this regard.

janina: Much appreciated.

Fredrik: Will forward this to Klaus.

janina: thers have also offered to ping their AC-REPs.

MichaelC: If your organization hasn't voted, please let them know and encourage them to do so.

TPAC Planning

janina: We have it for half a year, this planning item. TPAC will be virtual this year again.
… it will be in October spread over several weeks. The immediate date isn't as important as us thinking who we need to have meetings with during TPAC.
… Presumably, we'll meet with CSS. Others come and go as need arises. The point is we need to be thinking about that and the TFs to think about what WGs inside the W3C would be profitable to spend time with. Then we'll do outreach and calendarize ourselves together.
… Not only who but why is interesting: what would we meet with them about?
… We'd like to startreaching out to other WGs in June to get meetings arranged.

JF: Is there a wiki?

janina: Not yet but soon.

Task Force Updates

janina: CFCs: the FPWD from pronunciation is in FC. Have a look at it before midnight today Boston time.

janina: RQTF CFC for hte RAUR is also underway.
… specifically with respect to WebRTC, that goes until midnight Friday Boston time.
… the XAUR is coming up for CFC.
… barring surprises we may be finished with the RAUR now. Speed is less important than conprehensiveness and accuracy.

janina: Personalization is working towards CR status. Another week or so.

FAST Progress

MichaelC: The WCAG3 Functional Needs group has gotten approval for a servey. As soon as cleanup is done, the survey will open up (probably next week).

janina: We will definitely want everyone's participation in this.

New Charters Review https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3A%22Horizontal+review+requested%22

<MichaelC> https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues/268

MichaelC: Before, we looked at the PNG working group. There is a little conversation happening about this.

<MichaelC> https://w3c.github.io/charter-drafts/png-2021.html

MichaelC: Their charter doesn't follow the charter template.

MichaelC: Let me cook up a MC response and look at it next week.

janina: Sounds good.

janina: Devices and sensors is held up by other issues in Research Questions.

MichaelC: Let me put a note in it saying we're lookign at it.

janina: That's good for them to know.

MichaelC: The rest is silence.

Horizontal Review Issues Tracker https://w3c.github.io/horizontal-issue-tracker/?repo=w3c/a11y-review

MichaelC: For ARIA and HTML Cynthia Shelley has filed three issues.

MichaelC: Do we want to track these issues?

janina: Defer to the ARIA working group and note that they are actively reviewing the document.

<JF> +1

MichaelC: Mark them as tracking? We'll still be notified of what's going on.

JF: Especially the one for HTML since that involves a somewaht distant working group.

janina: We have reviewed the ARIA in HTML document in the past and similarly deferred to ARIA-WG.

<MichaelC> https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/5678

paul_grenier: I had a look at the HTMOL dialog return issue.

MichaelC: The issue was closed around the same time as Paul was assigned to it. I think Paul should put the comments in the issue but leave it in a closed issue. They can thebn decide to open based on Paul's comments if they so choose.

janina: It sounds like we should reopen this.

MichaelC: I think Paul's comments are good and that he should put them in there and engage with them. Leave it open for now.

janina: We should keep track of what happens on that one.

janina: Thanks Paul. Very good stuff everyone!

MichaelC: I think the action is complete.

paul_grenier: I'll be subscribed to it.

MichaelC: If there is something we shoudl attend to, let us know through the group channels.

new on TR http://www.w3.org/TR/tr-status-drafts.html

MichaelC: Nothing!

janina: Amy sent her regrets. If anyone has anything to bring up here...

paul_grenier: Is anyone from COGA here?

janina: David sent regrets.

paul_grenier: Please pass along the message to David for the review.

janina: I don't think we need to notify them any further.
… We're a long way from finishing the spec and finalizing user specs and so on. There's plenty of opportunity for COGA to weigh in on the Pronunciation FPWD.

CSS Update & Comment Feedback (Amy) https://github.com/w3c/css-a11y/issues

Dangling Spec Review Cleanup: https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Category:Spec_Review_Assigned

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Web_of_Things_(WoT)_Profile

MichaelC: Whereds are we at Web of Thigns Profile, Josh?

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/WebXR_Layers_API_Level_1

Joshue108: Fell through the cracks or any other suitable poetic image.

MichaelC: Geometry interfaces level 1. We sent this in 2018 to the CSS Task Force. I haven't figured out what to do with catching up with the CSS issue.

janina: We'll defer this to when Amy or Ian are here.

MichaelC: Reading through other specs that we looked through recently where people took up.

MichaelC: Three specs we can look at.
… Here are some ones where something more than just assigning has happened but we haven't returned a close on them.

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Custom_Elements

MichaelC: The first one is Custom Elements.
… The spec is being merged into the YWG DOM spec.
… No reason to keep it open.

janina: I think that's correct. Let's abandon it.

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Encrypted_Media_Extensions

MichaelC: Encrypted Media Extensions. We might want to comment on the new version that's going to be worked on. We can mark this as complete for now.

janina: I presume the new version will get flagged to us on publication.

MichaelC: The only reason the next one is here is because we can tell ARIA/WG to work on it.
… Let's take this off our list.

janina: Yes, let's.

MichaelC: It's been moved into ARIA/WG's scope again.

MichaelC: We'll continue looking through others.

janina: Good.

Actions Checkin (Specs) https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/track/actions/open

<janina> action-2287?

<trackbot> action-2287: John Foliot to Look at https://www.w3.org/wai/apa/wiki/media_capabilities and provide comments to our group next week -- due 2021-04-21 -- PENDINGREVIEW

<JF> https://github.com/w3c/media-capabilities/issues/177

janina: I think we want the functiaonality John proposes with exposing the tracking files inside the MP4 wrapper. The API should do this. We want this.

JF: This API is called Media Capabilities.

JF: I'm monitoring it and will let you know if I hear back.

janina: Any additional follow-up would be a bit too pushy. Maybe if we don't hear from them, ping them in a couple of weeks.

janina: Will this come up in our review, Michael?

MichaelC: It should show up on our dashboard. We are tracking it.

janina: We want to get it supported in the API.

MichaelC: They are not allowed to advance without us.

janina: We've been nice and we can ping them in a few weeks just to let them know that this is important to accessibility and we're blocking things until they fix it.
