TAG review

McCool reports TAG review is getting delayed (till May 8)

Matthias talks about the delays in getting to REC

Kaz: talking with PLH for guidance

<kaz> TAG minutes

I18n review

<kaz> i18n feedback (member-only)

Main feedback is on language identification and recommendation on being able to give multiple languages

References to a document with advice

<kaz> short self-checklist

<kaz> detailed checklist

McCool: some issue about base direction for strings that contain text with multiple directions

<McCool> https://w3c.github.io/string-meta/

Matthias: the self-check document is a big help

<inserted> Kaz: had some discussion during the TD call on APril 19, and the TD guys are working on the checklist. think Kawaguchi-san and Taki can make some report on their parts during the TF report.

Matthias: document editors should define a workplan that takes people’s vacation into account

Workshop

Kaz: we had a workshop program committee call yesterday, and will have the next call on Monday, April 29

Kaz talks about the process for the workshop paper review

Matthias: some people failed to upload their papers

McCool: our instructions were a little ambiguous

Kaz: we can start the reviews on the submissions that included papers. Also Lagally will ping those who forgot to attach position papers and ask them to submit their position papers.

Matthias: PC members can log into EasyChair to express your bids for which papers you want to review

mkovatsc turns to face to face planning (on Thursday/Friday right after the workshop on Mon/Tue/Wed)

McCool: Ege has reserved a room for us

We should create a wiki page for the details

The room is booked all day for Thursday and until 3pm on Friday. No catering booked as yet

<kaz> demo page

Suggestion for creating a f2f folder under ws2 folder

<inserted> or w3c wiki as usual

<ege> https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Main_Page#Upcoming

Matthias suggests we use w3c wiki for the f2f part as usual.

McCool: let’s get the wiki in place and we can then cover the details

McCool: in respect to demo planning

<inserted> involvement in the plugfest demo

Kaz: we should ask Mozilla about their involvement. Kathy is participating in the Program Committee, so we can continue the discussion within the Program Committee.

McCool: I can also reach out to them

Rechairing

Matthias: As you know Kajimoto-san has stepped down. technically, 2 chairs would be OK but some of the participants might be interested in joining the Chairs team.

We originally picked 3 co-chairs to represent the 3 main continents

<McCool> I would support having Sebastian as an additional co-chair

I am preparing an email to the WG on this

Kaz notes that we need to identify specific roles/rationale for each co-Chair. Also according to the W3C Process, group Chairs are appointed by the Director, so Kaz would like to talk with the W3C Management starting with PLH.

<ege> points out that the IG wiki at https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Main_Page#Chairs_and_Staff_Contacts has obsolete information

<kaz> matthias fixes the above IG wiki page

McCool: We have an opportunity to clean up our web pages including the wiki
... the idea is to have the decision on chairs next week after input from W3M

Rechartering the WoT IG/WG

Matthias: we need to talk about the timing for this

<McCool> https://github.com/w3c/wot/blob/master/charters/wot-ig-2019.html

McCool: we could propose a short term charter to finish current work items, then a fresh charter for work items coming out of the workshop

Matthias: we still need to get W3M’s approval for the proposed course of action

McCool: we have a draft charter for the IG, but not yet for the WG

Matthias: we can talk with other interested parties to ensure a smooth transition after the June workshop

McCool: should we arrange a separate call with Mozilla given that this timeslot isn’t convenient for them

Matthias: let’s put down what our starting position is first

Kaz notes that we need to get an AC review even for a short term rechartering, so he has started to consult with PLH about the procedure.

Cleaning up the website

McCool: points to obsolete pages (news stories)

<kaz> https://www.w3.org/WoT/

Suggests much shorter text for the WoT landing page

<kaz> https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/

<inserted> McCool: the WG page looks better (than the landing page).

Matthias: fully agree and we should have this done before the workshop

McCool: happy to create a first draft for discussion at next week’s call
... looks for somewhere to put the draft in github

<McCool> https://github.com/w3c/wot/tree/master/MARKETING/WebSite

<kaz> McCool: above URL for the draft text

Task force updates

* TD

Taki: we spent most of the time on the I18N check sheet

<kaz> Kawaguhci-san's input

<kaz> Taki's input

<kaz> Mizushima-san's input

we want to progress this as soon as practical

McCool: one issue we discussed was using the ISO time and date format

Kaz: agreed that we only use that

Matthias: the ISO spec is very broad, ECMAScript defined a subset

<kaz> [[

<kaz> Assignments so far:

<kaz> ... establishing the language of inline runs

<kaz> ]]

McCool: these 2 will be done soon

<kaz> checklist

Matthias: please create issues for those which apply to TD but are currently unassigned

I could take over some if that would help

The I18N check list doesn’t apply to the architecture document

<kaz> checklist template generator

* Architecture

Matthias: we made quite some progress over last 2 weeks, but some details still left to do

<kaz> architecture issues
