Resolved: last week's minutes approved
caroline: next meeting 9th January
… two weeks off
… people can work on their actions
… first item of the agenda: promotion of FPWD
<Caroline> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_f5CAZv7rgUjJH5YXkmD6w5xS6GX5X2AmEp_LMptAfQ/edit#gid=0
caroline: several people have promoted it, if you haven't promote it, please do
… this is an initial list of the people who attended the Amsterdam workshop
… but you can add more people to get as much feedback as possible
… there is some suggested text to be distributed
<Caroline> https://www.w3.org/2017/dxwg/wiki/PromoteUCRFPWD
caroline: included on the wiki
… and also distributed by kcoyle via email
… a suggestion to make it easy on how to promote
… this is an action to everyone
kcoyle: we might need to go through this again at the beginning of January
… as it is hard to get people's attention at this time of the year
Caroline: deadline is January 20th to provide comments
… if you change the template, please keep the deadline
Caroline: we have a list of open actions
<Makx> I will send out mine this week
Jaroslav_Pullmann: I'll take care of my list after the holidays
kcoyle: my actions are completed
<Caroline> alejandra: for the DCAT subgroup we still need some people fill in the doodle
https://doodle.com/poll/7xmetdd4r4hy8465
<Jaroslav_Pullmann> +1
<Caroline> alejandra: for the DCAT subgroup would be nice to meet on the first week of January
I meant the week of 8th January
kcoyle: we have in the agenda the selection of the meeting time
… we should not overlap
for DCAT sub-group it seems Wednesdays 20 pm UTC is good
<SimonCox> Perhaps this will help https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?day=8&month=1&year=2018&p1=152&p2=224&p3=43&p4=213&p5=136&p6=215&iv=0
kcoyle: for the profiles group, Wednesday 8 pm or 9 pm UTC
<Caroline> thank you SimonCox :)
and Thursdays at the same time
<Caroline> 20 UTC
<kcoyle> https://doodle.com/poll/ex97heywgqhwc77z
SimonCox: DCAT sub-group Wednesdays 20 UTC
kcoyle: options left for profiles: Wednesdays 21 UTC or Thursday 20 UTC or 21 UTC
SimonCox: these groups might meet often, especially if working on a product and needs technical discussions
<Makx> can you put it in IRC
discussion about dates
one meeting after the other
<annette_g> I can make 2100 Thursdays work if need be.
<kcoyle> DCAT wednesdays 20:00 UTC; profiles Thursdays 21:00 UTC
<Makx> i would prefer different days, not two hours in a row
Caroline: we put out that proposal: DCAT wednesdays 20:00 UTC; profiles Thursdays 21:00 UTC
… and then we see
<SimonCox> 1. DCAT Wednesday 20:00 UTC, Profiles Wednesday 21:00 UTC? (i.e. back-to-back) vs 2. DCAT Wednesday 20:00 UTC, Profiles Thursdays 21:00 UTC?
kcoyle: problem with one after the other, time of getting starting
… technical discussions might need to stop
Simon included the options for the poll
<kcoyle> straw poll: one day, 2 sessions; 2 separate days
<PWinstanley> 2 separate days
<annette_g> +1 for 2 days
<DaveBrowning> 0
<Jaroslav_Pullmann> 0 - will only participate in DCAT telcon
<RiccardoAlbertoni> 0
+1 for one day
<Makx> separate days
<kcoyle> 2 separate days
<SimonCox> +2 either OK
<Caroline> 0
Resolved: the times for the sub-groups will be: DCAT wednesdays 20:00 UTC; profiles Thursdays 21:00 UTC
<SimonCox> DCAT Wednesday 20:00 UTC, Profiles Thursdays 21:00 UTC
Caroline: one thing left is to check with Lars
… but he had indicated that if needed he could be available at 21 UTC
Caroline: have you got time to think about a replacement for a chair?
… as I won't be available
… at least 6 months
<SimonCox> If no-one else willing, I can try ...
kcoyle: we've got two other items
… checking for updates from the groups
SimonCox: DCAT group very little activity
… I started thinking about laying the ground work
… did a couple of things on Github
alejandra: I will take care of those PRs
SimonCox: we populated the draft document with content of DCAT 1.0
… I got the RDF for the DCAT ontology
… proposing to upload that as a starting point
<kcoyle> alejandra: & Simon putting examples of DCAT AP ontologies/instance data on the page
alejandra: propose to also include examples from other models that have dealt with the DCAT gaps
kcoyle: how would you like me to send comments?
SimonCox: we haven't discussed this, but I think that I would urge people to centralise the discussion in github issues and PRs
+1
I totally agree
<DaveBrowning> +1 to one place
annette_g: are the github issues going to be publicly viewable?
SimonCox: yes, anyone anywhere with a github account can create an issue
annette_g: you need an account
SimonCox: you can read them without an account
… the transparency requirement is met
… the only problem would be what if it goes away
<RiccardoAlbertoni> \me what about long term persistency of the discussion?
SimonCox: we are making a condition of the DCAT group to have a github account
<Caroline> alejandra: that is more the management of the DCAT group
<Caroline> ... we said on the URC that the comments are through the mailing list
<Caroline> ... for DCAT it is better to use github, but it does not mean we will not respond the emails as well
SimonCox: W3C has actions and issues that we can trigger from IRC minutes
… but still think the advantages of github outweigh other challenges
… there might be a need to create shadow issues
there is an action for dsr to investigate the links to github
kcoyle: there was a poll taken on the chairs list asking people what tool they use
… most people where using github
… so we aren't out of step
Caroline: need to vote?
kcoyle: it's ok
<Makx> github OK
Caroline: let's talk about profiles
<Caroline> https://www.w3.org/2017/dxwg/wiki/ProfileContext
kcoyle: Ruben asked me to introduce this work
… that's the page with proposal of definitions
… Ruben did one, I did one, please comment here (apart from the comments on the mailing list)
… you can also add your own definitions
… it'd be good to this a bit more in the next weeks
… we cannot do work on profiles until we agree on some key definitions
SimonCox: I added one more definition in there yesterday
… it's an ISO/IEC joint standard 10000
… it is not behind a paywall due to being joint with IEC
… I added the list of definitions from the standard in the wiki
<SimonCox> https://www.w3.org/2017/dxwg/wiki/ProfileContext#ISO.2FIEC_10000-1
Caroline: please, continue adding definitions/comments and let's continue the discussion via email until the next call
SimonCox: it's a 20-year old standard but still an important reference point
PWinstanley: what's the status of the Singapore statement about profiles?
kcoyle: it's a Dublin Core thing - primary DC document
… not a standard, more of a working document
… Singapore framework
… it is fading on the background
… we are working on a new document
… but still the Singapore framework has a lot of validity
SimonCox: is the Dublin Core abstract model being superseded/overtaken?
kcoyle: it is being overtaken by RDF
… it isn't quite parallel to RDF but clearly RDF is what things should be based on going forward
thanks, and bye all
