<George> Who is here?
<George> v\zakim, who is here
Heather is a controlled vocab editor and on board of Amer Society for Indexing
Tobias: Working to combine the
old Google epubcheck email list with this group. Planning to
send an invitation letter to invite them to join the EPUB CG
and this TF,
... We could keep the mailing list open for support and issues,
but we should keep clear that work is done in the CG.
George: Would this go to the whole EPUB 3 email list?
Tobias: I think that is a different list - this is the epubcheck email list
Matt: Can we shut down posting? We don't want to close the archive, but we would like to make sure people know where to go.
Tobias: Owners of the group are Peter Sorotokin, Markus Gylling, and Garth Conboy
Tzviya: I will talk to Garth about logistics. Tobias will send an email
https://github.com/IDPF/epubcheck/projects/2
https://github.com/IDPF/epubcheck/wiki/WorkPlan
Tobias: regarding EPUB 4.0.1 Milestone - if we are going to meet the dates, we need to reassign some of the tasks
<scribe> scribenick: tzviya
tobias: WorkPlan was edited a little to enable non-developers to help a little
George: Could non-technical people work under direction of coders?
Tobias: That is the hope
... We found that the suite clean up was difficult without
knowledge of Java
<Juli_Calderazi> u need sample epubs?
Tobias: but, people can rebuild the tiny epub files
<Juli_Calderazi> +q
Tobias: We should probably assign smaller tasks in which devs can interact with volunteers directly
Juli: offers to provide samples
Tobias: This also applies to
issue triage. We need to be able to duplicate the problem with
an actual epub. Samples would be helpful.
... Dave Cramer added a minimal sample file to be used for
minimal test cases.
tzviya: What are the items for the release? What can we delegate?
Tobias: Waiting for code review
from Romain and one other dev
... There are 2 other issues remaining - waiting for feedback
from Thomas ??? and Matt
... There are no other outstanding issues, but I think we
should go through the bugs and decide whether we should address
it in this release

Tzviya: Timeline for maintenance release
rdeltour: release in late october or mid-november
tzviya: we need to do some marketing with the maintenance release so that people don't freak out about the fact that we don't support EPUB 3.1 yet
tobias: EDRLab has talked about funding this or hiring someone
Tzviya: We need to do some
marketing, but none of us are marketers. The message would be
something along the lines of "Here's why we are releasing now.
Why doesn't it include EPUB 3.1? limited resources. What can
you do to help..."
... Would an EPUB that uses EPUB A11y 1.0 pass epubcheck?
Rdeltour: I'm not sure that epubcheck validates aria roles. If it doesn't then it would pass.
Tzviya: I will validate a file tomorrow and let rd know
rdeltour: cleaning the test suite
is next
... but it is not highly critical
... What is important is compiling the diff list
<Juli_Calderazi> We'll think about smith with my team down here for marketing with the concepts Tzviya wrote before.
<Tobias> 3.0.1 to 3.1 diff: https://github.com/IDPF/epubcheck/projects/1
George: What about pinging RickJ to talk about asking IMS for some help with this since they have a dependancy on EPUB?
