Introductions

<manu> https://ra21.org/

<manu> https://ra21.org/index.php/pilot-programs/

tzviya: working on scholarly publication issues, looks like Single-Sign-On, but seems to be bigger/broader cross-site

TPAC topic review

<stonematt> URL for TPAC Topics: https://goo.gl/8voHZS

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to mention one more he added - PING.

manu: added Privacy IG to list. will be good to ping the other groups in advance of TPAC so they can be ready to discuss.
... probably need 60 minutes for each of Privacy and WebCommerce IGs

ChristopherA: there is some intent to bring CG and WG together, don't know who's going to be there yet

JoeAndrieu: would like to get an hour on Use Cases

manu: we only have about 4-5 hours first day; 6 hours second day

stonematt: started sketching importance into topic list

Data Model Spec curent milestone

manu: no progress; need to get test suite into better shape; hoping for more progress to next week

<varn> need more help on data model spec? yes

<varn> ping manu to help

manu: assistance is welcome

<ChristopherA> https://github.com/WebOfTrustInfo/rebooting-the-web-of-trust-fall2017/blob/master/topics-and-advance-readings/verifiable-claims-primer.md

ChristopherA: VC Primer may be a helpful tool

Privacy and Security section review report

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to add Joe to the queue :)

manu: David Chadwick, Joe Andrieu, and I had conversation about issue markers and spec text...

<dlongley> https://github.com/w3c/vc-data-model/issues/68

JoeAndrieu: we had three different interpretations of what was there, and Manu was going to try to write clarity

ChristopherA: Lionel in Credentials CG is going to borrow some text from a related IETF RFC we found

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to follow up on issue 68

manu: data model currently says a verifiable claim may be transmitted by the subject (the subject is the holder)

<ChristopherA> The RFC is https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6973

manu: separate use case, a holder may hand over credential on behalf of subject (UNHCR hands over medical credential on behalf of refugee)
... data model has talked about these 2 use cases. concern about authentication of holder, subject, etc.

<manu> sample spec text: https://github.com/w3c/vc-data-model/issues/68#issuecomment-328590434

manu: could make non-normative section that points to other specs that cover how to handle authentication of subject-holder and/or onBehalfOf-holder

<manu> https://github.com/w3c/vc-data-model/issues/68#issuecomment-328847548

dlongley: data model doesn't need additions, but may need some changes to clarify what elements are and how/when they can be used

stonematt: we have implementations using the data model being built in parallel to the data model work...

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to note PING...

manu: we should reach out to Privacy IG pretty soon
... typically takes them several weeks to do a review

<JoeAndrieu> Charter: https://www.w3.org/2017/vc/charter.html

[ discussion of what privacy flags we're supposed to raise and where, and how we can make Privacy IG's work easier and more productive ]

Use Case doc update

JoeAndrieu: guessing there should be a privacy section within the Use Case doc

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to respond to Joe

manu: we could put ecosystem/use-case privacy analysis in any of several docs

<JoeAndrieu> https://github.com/w3c/vc-use-cases

JoeAndrieu: quick review of doc at https://github.com/w3c/vc-use-cases
... 4 pull requests pending, don't have auth to address these

s/https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/vc-use-cases/https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/vc-use-cases\//

scribe: some things in charter mean we should make some changes to use case doc...

<manu> https://www.w3.org/2017/vc/charter.html

scribe: charter makes identity on the web out-of-scope, but use case doc has a section that seems to focus there directly

stonematt: different interpretation of charter intent. representing a driver's license as a verifiable claim is not the same as trying to manage "identity on the web".

varn: there are many ways to verify identity, which we can point to and use in our approach

JoeAndrieu: that makes sense.

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to lawyer the charter.

<manu> "Focus their efforts on the identified use cases with a particular focus on the education sector. As a secondary focus, the group may address use cases on digital offers, receipts, and loyalty programs; discussion of these topics is not exclusive to this Working Group. "

manu: charter does have that scope statement, meant to keep us from going too far into the weeds, but not to completely isolate

varn: wonders whether tzviya's edu pubs use case fits in here

JoeAndrieu: we have a number of issues for use case additions, but nothing about federation, which seems to be what tzviya described

tzviya: certainly part of it is federation, there may be other pieces relevant to us (e.g., peer review) that we can help expand

JoeAndrieu: please raise issues for any use cases not yet represented, especially if they can be highlighted as education-related
... booked elsewhere the next couple weeks, but can dig into this again thereafter

<manu> +1, yes, applicability is super important - good catch, Joe!

<Zakim> manu, you wanted to ask if we could work on this at RWoT?

<scribe> ... new section(s) to be "existing deployments" and/or "potential deployments"

<ChristopherA> I'm off, heading to Credentials CG.

agenda items for future

[ crickets ]

persisting --

trouble with "realname" present and "ircname" in irc is there's no direct track between attendees and logs

Zakim et al used to handle this stuff somehow...
