Coming calls

Erik: Tentatively i can join the call on the 17th.

Steven: We'll cancel next week.

Erik: I'm also not sure of the 26th July

Steven: OK
... Anyway, no calls in August

Tutorial on data-driven forms

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jul/0001

Steven: Please comment before I formally publish it

Email type

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jun/0038

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jun/0040

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jul/0009.html

Steven: Suggestion, two email types, one for regular ascii addresses
... plus international email address type
... Implemented here: http://homepages.cwi.nl/~steven/forms/examples/email.xml

Erik: Liam raised the point of strict compatibility

Steven: We could add a third type that dealt with that

Erik: There may be email addresses at top-level domains
... IETF discourages the use of domains that exist just of one part.
... I don't have a big interest in supporting the strict IETF RFC
... I'm good with the proposed change.

Validation and optional fields

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jun/0041

Steven: So you support introducing the new rule, as I unserstand it Erik
... so do I

Erik: Yes.

Alain: I'm OK with adopting the new rule

<scribe> ACTION: Steven to adopt new validation rule in text [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2017/07/05-forms-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-2131 - Adopt new validation rule in text [on Steven Pemberton - due 2017-07-12].

Erik: So you will just say "this is how required works now"?

Steven: Yes

<reset instance="id"/>

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jul/0000

Steven: A suggestion from me

Erik: If you wanted to reset from a slightly different version of the instance, it would be good to say yourself what the 'initial

' state of an instance is

scribe: we work around this
... by copying the instance somewhere else
... we have no feature that supports it

Steven: Do you have a name for the action?

Erik: Haven't thought about it
... This wouldn't add much complexity. The implementation has to do this anyway

Alain: Fine with me too.

<scribe> ACTION: Steven to spec new <reset/> and matching set action [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2017/07/05-forms-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-2132 - Spec new <reset/> and matching set action [on Steven Pemberton - due 2017-07-12].

Submission echo

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jun/0042

Steven: So Erik you have this already?

Erik: Yes.
... mostly for testing
... the name is not thought out.

Steven: My fear is having to register a scheme

Erik: A scheme is the easiest

Steven: I'm not opposed. It's just the extra work
... Alain do you have this feature?

Alain: Not exactly, because of replace="all" which is hard to do via javascript
... it is possible using a new tab

Steven: what would your advice be?

Alain: A means to copy instances.

Steven: In other words, this needs more thought

Alain: Yes.

switch/case

https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xformsusers/2017Jun/0032

Steven: Do you support this? How hard would it be?

Erik: This raises a very old question of how you decide whether to display a control
... a standard pattern is ".[condition]"
... and such a condition on case could be more widely applied, for instance for group.

Steven: I agree
... so you are saying that if we do this, it should be more general

Erik: Possibly.
... Actually, with the @name version it works two-way

Steven: Ah!

<scribe> ACTION: Steven to think about switch/case and heneral visibility more [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2017/07/05-forms-minutes.html#action03]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-2133 - Think about switch/case and heneral visibility more [on Steven Pemberton - due 2017-07-12].

AOB

Steven: No call in one week; possible call in two weeks depending on Erik.
