Wonsuk reviews agenda
Stiepan: why can't we discuss payments?
Ted: I haven't lined up a speaker to present Web Payments API
Wonsuk: can we give a summary of the collaboration?
https://www.w3.org/2017/Talks/tg-autopay/
Ted: I presented a few weeks ago to the Web Payments IG in Chicago our use cases and challenges I perceive for being able to adopt Web Payments readily. They agree to work with us. I will arrange a tour for this group of their spec work perhaps a remote one during our F2F. Reaching out to some other stakeholders, please make introductions as appropriate within your organizations. We will work on logistics, wiki, call schedule etc. soon, presently I have some other work demands that has been hindering that.
Wonsuk: this will be a BG Task Force?
Ted: yes, we will be launching one soon hopefully
Wonsuk: for this item I have
about existing Task Force
... before we create RSI TF we had 2G-VIS
Paul: they are two different things. RSI is about implementing and trying out REST for other domains
Wonsuk: this is for testing viability?
PatrickL: it is about finding a
generic way for trying to handle different use
cases/needs/domains (media, notifications, navigation) and
describing resources
... it is a little more bound than plain HTTP requests and
includes publish and subscribe mechanisms
Paul: the main thing is to do
what Patrick said, try these domains with input from Genivi on
LBS
... the idea is to do an early implementation
... the discussions around 2G-VIS were not really going
anywhere
... this will focus on _other_ domains
Ted: VISS as discussed is going
forward as it is chartered, hopefully will go to CR this
month
... people are implementing it and we will get real world
experience and combined with real world feasability for these
other domains can make informed decisions on how to converge on
signals
Paul: I will be on a flight for tomorrow's call so ask Wonsuk, Patrick, Ted, others to carry on until I join 15 or so minutes late
Wonsuk: I have seen some activity on the github repo
PatrickL: Sanjeev has been most
active in making code contributions
... he seems to be having fun with it
... I know PatrickB is working on VLC instead of DBUS (due to
that missing on Windows/Mac) for a real media player that can
be tied to it
... I am working on socket CAN so people like Fulup/AGL can try
it out
Wonsuk: what is the case with notifications?
PatrickL: we have that internal
and going through internal bureaucracies to open it up. if that
prooves too difficult we can do a clean room
implementation
... not sure yet the timing
Paul: which repo are you working on?
PatrickL: it is experimental playspace at this point more than offical W3C automotive
(under PatrickB's repo at present)
<paul> https://github.com/iamsanjeev
PatrickL: Sanjeev has forked a copy into his repository as well
<paul> https://github.com/iamsanjeev/viwiServer
<PatrickLue> https://github.com/wzr1337/viwiServer
<paul> https://github.com/wzr1337/viwiServer
Wonsuk: thank you, this is a very interesting activity and hope to contribute as well
Wonsuk: are these call continuing?
Paul: not at present. it should probably be suspended for the time being
Wonsuk: there are many calls so probably
Ted: agree with Paul, suspend the 2G-VIS calls. VISS is continuing and RSI is other domains. we will need to think about convergence on signals in the future and recharter the WG for that
Rudi: agree to suspend, let's do this proof of concept and then be able to look at things more concretely
Wonsuk: we have an LBS task force
and media tuner task force. what do people think of these
activities?
... no big progress for quite some time
Paul: there has been no progress
which is why trying them with RSI proof of concept will
help
... having something plausible will attract people to try it
out
Wonsuk: that makes sense
Paul: what I am hearing for the
BG is this RSI group and Payments
... that would be the two active groups
... LBS was more active in the past, Philippe Colliot and Qing
An will appreciate this getting started again in RSI
Wonsuk: we should call a close to
media tuning task force then
... and defer to RSI proof of concept in this area
... that makes sense to me as well
Paul: that was active for
awhile
... Genivi has a corresponding Security Expert Group but ours
has not met actively since our last F2F
Wonsuk: for short term goal, it
would be great if we got this task force to focus on and
support VISS
... this task force can have long term goals as well
PhilippeR: Genivi's Security
group has looked at RVI and looking at SOTA at present, next is
VISS
... you should talk with Stacey Janes (Irdeto) who leads that
activity
Ted: I sit in on some of their
calls. They work on building attack trees so risks are better
understood
... I'm looking forward to us working with them on VISS
Wonsuk: Any other business?
Stiepan: any update on WebRTC for WebEx?
Ted: yes, is has been available for a few weeks and announced to the list. Simply use the webex link in FF or Chromium
