Topic Audioworker discussion, aim to find the quickest route to competing the audio worker spec.

I'll wing it

joe is the worklet spec in a state where we can define audio worker and proceed

joe if not what is blocking

iank belives we sould be able to spec if anything is needed which not aware of can make it a high priority

padenot: once changes merged in will try to write the text for aworker and report back if there are any problems

iank might be parts which are rendering specific but should have got rid of those

iank can we chat next week or week after padnot will look at text first but will be useful

padenot based on early worklet text doesn't see any api changes on our side

<ChrisL> seems good to me

Issues requiring WG review https://github.com/WebAudio/web-audio-api/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22Needs+WG+review%22

joe issue 12 pozdnyakov proposed a workable example (see gh issue) joe in favour of going ahead with the prototype pr

joe different to previously discussed approach

<rtoyg_m> He said he works on Crosswalk, a derivative of Chromium.

joe any objections.......no

<joe> https://github.com/WebAudio/web-audio-api/issues/348

scribe is struggling to hear - is it the same for everyone?

cwilso feedback that we want to specify number of frames rather than preset values, feedback in both directions - probably better to expose numbers rather than categories but either way is implementable

padenot the categories are very platform specific

cwilso balancing between users who are not concerned with precise latency and pro daw aps where users would expect to be tweeking values

rtoyg_m: interactive, media and custom (number)

joe this is an audio context creation option padenot it is possible to change it example deactivate a bluetooth device while playing when latency will reduce, that has to be handled

cwilso not sure if this would be graceful but has to be handled

joe either decide or defer entire feature cwilso defering would be a very bad outcome

cwilso nomnates rtoyg_m to comeup with a solution which we will stick to.....

rtoyg_m nomnates cwilso to comeup with a solution which we will stick to.....

<joe> https://github.com/WebAudio/web-audio-api/issues/566

cwilso no reson these would be harmful

joe lets allow them

cwilso you would expect to be able to create eg unit testing we shoudl enable them

joe agreed - no objections.

Item 3 New and Uncommitted issues https://github.com/WebAudio/web-audio-api/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+no%3Amilestone

rtoyg_m mostly simple changes on this list

rtoyg_m issue 719 need discussion

<hongchan> https://github.com/WebAudio/web-audio-api/issues/719

rtoyg_m its not clear that the down mixing is as agreed at the last f2f

cwilso thinks this is fine

rtoyg_m its not what is being done in chrome today

rtoyg_m happy with the way it is in the spec

padenot fine by me - its an edge case

cwilso leave as it is in the spec - agreed

<joe> https://github.com/WebAudio/web-audio-api/issues/723

joe suggest we close - agreed no objections

<ChrisL> sgtm

Next meeting 10th March

joe not likely to be able to go to atlanta

trackbot, end meeting
