... ILP promises a very exciting opp for blockchain and fintech
... feel the more we weave this tech together the better (id, payments etc)

Introductions

padler: FedlIne, member of the W3C Payments groups, Federal Reserve of Chicago. Actively interested in ILP as it relates to the American payments ecosystem

heather: Padler, can you talk openly about your work at the Fed?

padler: yes and no. I have to walk a fine line. Need to ensure we are up to speed but can't say too much.

<Heather> FYI that was Tiffany asking padler questions. :-)

pindar: Hong kong based. Liked the ILP whitepaper. Mostly observer. Strong fintech interest in HK. Experience in BTC stack.

<Heather> FYI, sound is breaking up.

https://github.com/interledger/five-bells-demo/wiki

<Ranga_> Support using slack.

<Adam_Locklin> slack +1

<ShaneM> Some concern about openness of slack

+1 slack

<Heather> not a fan of slack

<Ranga_> @ShaneM slack can connect to irc

ari: Midasium should look at work of Bruce Cahan at Stanford

<Heather> I know Bruce. Good suggestion

<ShaneM> +1 for specs and issue management on github. more easily merges with other W3C processes

<bway> Note: AdrianHB, there are some comments in the Bluejeans chat that should be archived as well.

<pindarhk> Fine ... thanks for the proto-roadmap

<ShaneM> Note that "consensus" in a large group often means putting out an email "call for consensus" where no comment means "I agree"

<pindarhk> Standard Desk might be helpful ;)

tiffany: is advocacy a goal?

adrianHB: yes, can help if required

<Heather> I'll do some scribing.

<Heather> Adrian - yes the goal is to get to multiple regchecked specs.

<tiffany_> yes

<Heather> Adrian: it's a goal, but we want to make sure we get the right specifications. also up for discussion who the right stakeholders are. going to do use cases first.

<ShaneM> I think the "roadmap" can define the timeline.

<Heather> padler: Is the goal to get the community to working group status by TPaC? Adrian: depends on the group. Would be good by mid year.

<Heather> Adrian: the spec depends on who is kicking the tire in the wild (who is implementing what and how)

<pindarhk> Is that f2f meeting now confirmed at Google San Francisco?

<pindarhk> If so, what was the date again?

<Heather> Q: will we be able to connect remotely? Adrian: that would be ideal. Will find out facilities.

<pindarhk> Great... remote participation would be great +1

<ShaneM> The dates for the f2f are Feb 22-24 for the Web payments IG and WG

<pindarhk> Thanks

<Heather> Dare is Feb 22-24

<ShaneM> So this group might need to meet right after that (25th) since there is quite a bit of overlap.

<Heather> Adrian: Are there specific topics to see on the agenda for that meeting?

<pindarhk> Novel use cases

<ShaneM> I would like to see Roadmap development and Requirements development as high priroity agenda items.

Agenda suggestion: Scope definition

<Heather> : Related to scope of group & what to achieve. What is in/out of scope.

<pindarhk> Agreed

<Heather> Adrian: lay groudwork & share ideas on the mailing list prior to f2f

<Heather> Adrian: expect 1/2 day, 1 day max session.

<pindarhk> I'll be UTC +8 if that could be accommodated

<Heather> Adrian: meet in evening? Thursday>

<Heather> Either time works for me.

<pindarhk> :)

<ShaneM> I am happy to meet in the evening. Thursday morning is okay too. I am in town all week.
