past calls: http://www.w3.org/2013/07/02-papag-minutes.html and http://www.w3.org/2013/07/16-papag-minutes.html

plh: We checked shortly before we launched the PAG to ask Nokia whether they continued to assert their claims against the spec
... at that time, they said yes
... W3C team had a conversation with Nokia legal

Doug_Turner: It would be good to know, before spinning up PAG infrastructure, whether claims apply against current draft

<Yves> note http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-webapps/2013JulSep/0102.html so a new WD should be published soon

<Yves> deadline today

Claims Analysis

https://www.w3.org/2013/papag/wiki/Claims_Analysis

wseltzer: please look at the chart and add to it

dougt: what do we need to do with broad claims?

<dougt> who's talking?

<dougt> ty

lrosen: did Nokia say anything additional in its disclosure?

wseltzer: no
... It could be helpful to know whether the patents have been asserted against anyone else, or reviewed in court

chaals: whether or not the patent has been asserted isn't actually all that useful

dougt: the patents look incredibly broad

<dougt> lolz

<dougt> chaals: agreed

<dougt> tell us how you really feel.

dougt: if Mozilla counsel analyzed these and brought analysis back to the group, would that be helpful?

group: yes

lrosen: has anyone looked at the file wrappers to see the history of the claims

<dougt> dropped. calling back.

lrosen: there may have been objections by the examiner, other limiting material in the record

<chaals> [+1 to Larry, looking at the file wrapper is actually really useful]

<chaals> […especially if you have enough understanding of the technology to know what they are talking about...]

<dougt> :)

lrosen: It would be useful to do the file-wrapper analysis early

<dougt> chaals: how would we know that?

<chaals> ack

<Zakim> chaals, you wanted to ask if larry has the time and expertise to provide pointers to the wrapper files

[patents listed in the charter: http://www.w3.org/2013/03/push-pag-charter.html]

chaals: asks for pointers to the wrapper files

lrosen: will provide links to the USPTO website

wseltzer: please add to the wiki

dougt: we're going to implement this, we're going to ship it; we believe it's simple enough not to infringe patents
... when will PAG be done?

sample https://www.w3.org/2013/papag/wiki/PAG_Report

wseltzer: Next call, August 6, same time and channel
... hopes to see more work done on the wiki in between
