Resolution status:

Having the HTML spec say that @alt was to contain a short description of the image caused years of dysfunctional ALT texts to be written. Haven't we had enough of this? "Descriptive" is narrow in a misleading way; need something that is more evocative of the breadth of information covered by these various compoents and their short labels.

Proposed Change:

Use "are explanatory" or "are fitting."
