           Summary: Support <textarea>.textLength
           Product: HTML WG
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
               URL: http://software.hixie.ch/utilities/js/live-dom-
                    viewer/saved/119
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Spec bugs
        AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org
        ReportedBy: annevk@opera.com
         QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org
                CC: ian@hixie.ch, mike@w3.org, public-html@w3.org

Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera all support the textLength DOM attribute
on <textarea>. Sites rely on it as well as far as I know.

Newlines are counted differently in browsers. Have not checked whether it
counts 16-bit units, actual characters, etc. Also not sure whether any of these
details matter, but long term it would be good if they were clear.
