Summary: There can never be no active range
           Product: WebAppsWG
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: HTML Editing APIs
        AssignedTo: ayg@aryeh.name
        ReportedBy: ian@hixie.ch
         QAContact: sideshowbarker+html-editing-api@gmail.com
                CC: mike@w3.org, public-webapps@w3.org

According to DOM Range, there's always a selection; if it's empty, it is just
one range with start=end.

This means there's always an active range, so the Editing spec doesn't need to
say it can be null.
