Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AG WG) Project Plan

This page contains the project plan for the proposed Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AGWG). The plan includes information about specifications and milestones indicated in the AGWG Charter.

As stated in the charter, the intent of the Accessibility Guidelines Working Group is to publish updated guidance for accessibility on a regular interval. Currently the Working Group believes that that interval will be approximately three years and will start with WCAG 2.1 in June 2018. This timeline is not firmly set at this time because the Working Group needs greater input from stakeholders on the timeline and because the process of publishing WCAG 2.1 may offer additional information and experience that will guide the updating of the timeline.

The milestones section shows possible dates for a WCAG 2.2 Recommendation. The Working Group is unable to determine whether an additional dot-release update to WCAG 2.x will be necessary before the Accessibility Guidelines 3.0 is ready for release, but dates for the WCAG 2.2 release are provided on a provisional basis.

The Working Group charter proposed initial milestones. Updates to those milestones will be provided here as needed.
