This document describes the time line for deliverables of the XForms Working Group. It will be updated from time to time.
This document describes the plans of the XForms Working Group (members only) for each of its deliverables. While those plans may change, they represent the group's best guess as of the date on this document. This document may be updated, replaced or rendered obsolete by other W3C documents at any time. It is inappropriate to use this document as reference material or to cite them as other than "work in progress". This document does not imply endorsement by the W3C Membership.
This document has been produced as part of the W3C XForms Activity. The goals of the XForms Working Group are discussed in the XForms Working Group Charter.
The XForms Working Group is being rechartered with the goal of continuing to develop specifications to cover all aspects of forms on the Web. The mission of this Working Group is to continue W3C's work on the next generation of Web forms. .
This group's current activities commenced in June 2000, and the group was rechartered in December 2002 until December 2004. The purpose of this document is to define general milestones for the deliverables of the XForms Working Group, and outline the inter-dependencies among the various deliverables.
This document reflects the project plan of the XForms Working Group. As such, it is a living document subject to change without notice.
The first step is to bring the current XForms 1.0 Specification to
Recommandation status.
The second step is to develop a enhanced version of the forms language,
namely XForms 1.1 Recommandation.
The third step is to work on a next generation of forms language, namely
XForms 2.0.
The general development plan of the XForms Working Group is described in the following table. The dates show are actual (past) or planned (future) dates when each document enters the given phase in its process. Completion of that phase is subject to W3C procedures.
Each of these deliverables is described in the following sections.
The Working Group will develop test suites to show that XForms Processors based on the specification are implementable and have compatible behavior.
The Working Group will develop implementation report to show that XForms Processors based on the specification are implementable and have compatible behavior.
The Working Group will write a Disposition of comments documents to show that all comments submitted during the XForms Last Call and Candidate Recommendation period have been addressed.
The Working Group will maintain errata for its Recommendations, and will publish new editions when appropriate.
The Working Group will produce promotional materials and will engage in activities to encourage the development of authoring tools, user agents and good practices for XForms1.0, for example, tutorial descriptions and open meetings.
