Re: ITI VPATs and upcoming WCAG 2.2

As the chair of the ITI VPAT TF, we will wait until the update to WCAG 2.1 is published and for the Recommendation version of WCAG 2.2 to be published. That way if there are any last-minute changes, it won’t cause churn in the VPAT. As Andrew aptly put, we typically wait for regulations to take up the new WCAG before the VPAT changes but with the obsolescence of 4.1.1 Parsing it is important to get that change out there ASAP.

ITI is aware of 2.2. Typically, the VPAT is updated when there is a regulation that requires a new version of the standards, but perhaps with 4.1.1 changing it makes sense to address earlier. I don't think that this will be a difficult change.

Hey all,

anybody know if there are plans already afoot to update the ITI VPATs to
include WCAG 2.2? We're considering expanding the latest one to include
the new SCs once 2.2 goes to recommendation stage, but would prefer not
to create/maintain a fork.

Cheers,

Patrick
