- HCLS KB update (Matthias Samwald and Adrian Paschke)
- Q&A (All)
Minutes
- <kei> rob, give a summary of semantic wiki telconf
- <kei> rob: not including semantic mediawiki this time but will include it in the next series
- <RobFrost> http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2008_11_20
- <kei> rob: 6 semantic wiki technologies were introduced
- <@ericP> note also recent SMW users meeting in cambridge
- <@ericP> -> http://smw.referata.com/wiki/SMW_users_meeting SMW users meeting in cambridge
- <kei> rob: ikewiki
- @ericP seems the folks at Salzburg Research have a propensity for cute names
- <kei> rob: kb and wiki pages annotated with types
- <kei> rob: backend implemented in Java (architecture different from semantic mediawiki)
- <kei> rob: good support of reasoning but small user base
- <Zakim> + +1.201.572.aaaa
- <kei> rob: acewiki
- <kei> rob: not a wiki style interface (using a control natural language -- U. of Zurich)
- <@ericP> AceWiki - Mr. TobiasKuhn (University of Zurich, Switzerland) - http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2008_11_20 ¶ 4
- <kei> rob: use of pseudo natural language
- <Zakim> - +1.201.572.aaaa
- <kei> rob: editor that helps user to type in a correct/parseable sentence
- <kei> rob: export of owl ontologies
- <kei> rob: SWIM (text focused on math mark up) -- ext. of ikewiki
- <kei> rob: myontology
- <kei> rob: no trial version available
- <kei> rob: just capture taxonomy (not ontology)
- <@ericP> i guess a way to produce a flat controled vocabulary
- <kei> rob: import ontologies and edit them collaboratively
- <kei> rob: looks like a research prototype rather than a production system
- <kei> rob: ontowiki
- <kei> rob: everything is rdf (not wiki text)
- <kei> rob: different forms are used to view/edit rdf
- <kei> rob: good for interoperability with other rdf-based systems
- <kei> rob: different ways of rendering the content, plan to have virtuoso backend
- <kei> rob: no reasoning support
- <kei> rob: hyper wiki? (similar to ikewiki)
- <kei> rob: four lightning presentations were given
- <kei> rob: internet business logic -- translated into sql
- <kei> rob: another commercial product (name?) was presented
- <kei> rob: it involved templates and forms
- <kei> rob: noodle? is another system presented
- <kei> rob: collaborative ontology editing
- <kei> rob: swooki? extension of smw. peer-to-peer semantic wiki
- <kei> rob: support of wiki page reuse -- use of portion of wiki locally and support reasoning
- <kei> rob: smw will be presented on dec 12
- <@ericP> SMW folks think it will very hard to populate docs out of asserted triples that match a SMW template
- <kei> ericP: ikewiki vs smw -- triples coming from wikitext
- <kei> ericP: smw proteins -- templates ikewiki has influence on smw
- <kei> rob: kiwi? ikewiki is different from kiwi
- <kei> ericP: wiki itself represents ontologies (like ontowiki)
- <kei> rob: use of wiki to define classes and properties of classes
- <@ericP> re: myOntology, flat controled vocabs are almost always frustratingly inexpressive
- <kei> ericP: myontology - inexpressive
- <@ericP> expect we'll want to have collaborative ontologies
- <@ericP> [name?] (Mayo Clinic) use a round trip between SMW, Protégé and something else
- <kei> ericP: round triping?
- <@ericP> Steven Forth says that including an ont tool is necessary
- <@ericP> ACE is similar to approaches to express Common Logic (Sowa, Hayes, Menzel)
- <kei> http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLS/Banff2007Demo
- <RobFrost> ACE presentation: http://ontolog.cim3.net/file/work/SemanticWiki/SWiki-02_Technology-1_20081120/AceWiki--TobiasKuhn_20081120.pdf
- <kei> http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLSIG_BioRDF_Subgroup/Meetings/2008-12-1?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=HCLS+KB.ppt
- <Donald_Doherty> yes
- <Zakim> -TNBhat
- <Zakim> +Adrian
- <Donald_Doherty> I must go to another meeting now. Thanks!
- <Zakim> -Don_Doherty
- Donald_Doherty (Donald_Doh@151.201.143.235) Quit (Quit: Donald_Doherty)
- <kei> adrian: alegro graph -- another triplestore technology that can be compared with virtuoso
- <kei> adrian: build additional query interface (rule-based)
- <kei> kei: can rules be added to sparql queries (e.g. banff demo queries and/or LODD use cases)
- <kei> adrian: prova rule engine
- AdrianP (a02d72e0@128.30.52.43) has joined #BIORDF
- <kei> federated queries supported by rules, for example.
- <kei> interface with wiki possibly
- <kei> acewiki: support of owl2/swrl?
- <kei> reference to multiple sources from wiki environment
- <AdrianP> rule responder is the system we have it has an ACE interface which allows you to ask query in controlled languages. The qeuries are translated and processed in a rule system which processes the query
- <AdrianP> access different data stores
- <AdrianP> and queries them with their query langauges e.g. SPARQL, SLQ, XQuery etc
- <kei> ericP: give some examples to the acewiki people (banff sparql queries)
- <kei> ericP: federation: decouple the datasets withing the current kb.
- <kei> ericP: adrian will contact acewiki group about looking into the banff demo
- <@ericP> -> http://www.w3.org/2008/07/MappingRules/ Rule Mapping paper
- <AdrianP> I will work on using rules for integrating several KB sources and services
- <kei> Bob will also work with Eric and Adrian in exploring how to federate multiple KB's across multiple triplestores
