But I would like to point out a small mistake in one of the examples. .......... ie, in the topic of 'Composite messages that are incomplete strings'(Internationalization Issues), there is a mistake has found out in the example list, as follows: In the first example block, the word 'desiredEntries' has mistakenly used as 'requiredEntries' in the 4th and 5th example blocks. | Having read the article again, I'd like to revise my feedback........... The text is informative and understandable. The "On this page" links at the top would be good in a normal (not inline) list, as they appear similar to breadcrumbs. It would also be good to have a sublist of the subtag headers. Use of Title Caps on these links (and on headers) would aid readability. The use of acronym tags would be good for terms such as RFC, IANA, IETF, and BCP (good that there\'s a definition for BCP though). It would help if the first table of examples had what is being demonstrated (script, variant etc) in a third column, and included an example of each type of subtag. Programmers will probably cut to the specs, but as it's mentioned in "Using Language Tags" #2 it would be good to have the regex for determining the matching of language tags (if feasible) ........... The main problem with the page is the use of pictures for the subtag .insidenote examples. Because .insidenote blocks are given a 24% width, the widest image (294px) requires a browser window width of 1220px to view without scrolling. I believe this information (coloured boxes around the relevant subtag part) would be better applied as styled spans directly to the text examples (eg using outline), as the images are a straight duplication of these examples. Alternatively if you want a magazine-style callout, making the examples inline-styled text in a .insidenote div would allow the site more width flexibility. .......... In "Matching language tags" it would be good to mention what browsers support the pseuo-attribute lang (ie to say IE doesn't support it before IE7, which is a pretty serious lack of support). It would also be good to have a browser support statement regarding the new language tags, even if it's just to say browsers should ignore anything they don't know. Finally it would be good to embolden or otherwise highlight this paragraph "Note that the HTML specification still recommends the use of RFC 1766 for identifying language but you should use RFC 4646 despite what the HTML specification currently says.\", and provide a direct link to the relevant section of the spec. .......... hope that was more useful .......... m_(,)_m .......... peace - oli

| This was a really helpful article. I'd like to see more about the current state-of-play regarding multiple-language content, lang="mul" and other problem cases. I'd like to see some notes or pointers to further reading concerning the state of software support for, for example Content-Language headers. This would help me devise a testing strategy to assess the impact of design decisions. (Omit xml:lang at root element? Use xml:lang="mul"? Content-Language="mul"? Omit these elements?) It's understandable that a standards body does not want to get dragged into discussing individual applications, but help with assessing deplyoment issues is really welcomed.
