Connection to W3C

  • I have been on Advisory Board(AB) since 2019 and leading accessibility in W3C publishing groups since 2017. I have gained good amount of knowledge about internal working of W3C, the culture, the community and the challenges we are facing.

Financial acumen

  • Financial management was part of my MBA course, from the most prestigious management institute of India, Indian Institute of Management.
  • I have been working as chief of strategy and operations in DAISY Consortium since 2015 and I am deeply involved in financial management and strategic resource allocation in the organization. DAISY Consortium is an international non-profit organization with members and network partners spread across more than 100 countries.


Legal acumen

  • I am in the management team of DAISY Consortium and my involvement in legal matters is more on the side of supervision and oversite of legal experts. I am not a legal expert myself.

Governance

  • I have done certification in non-profit board management from Harvard executive education.
  • Governance was part of my education at Indian institute of Management.
  • Since 2012, I am working closely with DAISY Consortium board on strategic and governance matters.
  • I have been instrumental in removing gaps between the DAISY Consortium board and the management and bringing them in a very good alignment.
  • I received honorary position on the board of DAISY Forum of India for guiding and mentoring the board for developing organization strategy and restructuring the board, office bearers and the membership for maximizing the impact across the country, keeping in account the huge diversity of income levels, education, social dynamics etc. across India.

Fundraising experience

  • I have done certification in strategic fund raising for non-profits, from the Harvard executive education.
  • As part of the three persons management team of DAISY Consortium, I am well involved in developing and implementing fund raising strategies in alignment with the organization strategy, developing project proposals, applying for funding, etc. In order to justify investment of time, Our funding proposals are usually above USD 100,000 and can go beyond 1 million depending on the opertunity in hand.

Risk management experience

  • I am deeply involved in risk management in DAISY Consortium. Developing organizational strategy while taking into account the risks is one of my important responsibilities in the management team.

Public sector and policy experience

  • I do not have explicit policy experience. The related experience I have is advocacy for rights of persons with disabilities. I am working with government departments/agencies for formulating the policies for encouraging accessibility for people with disabilities.

Leadership and strategy experience

  • Strategy was the domain of my specialization in MBA.
  • I have been working as Chief of strategy and operations in DAISY Consortium since 2015. I led the strategic planning in DAISY Consortium in 2011-13, and assessed and refreshed the strategic plan in 2018 and 2022 based on the changing environment.
  • I am a mission oriented leader and have always ensured that DAISY Consortium remains completely aligned to its vision and mission and proactively adapts to ensure its relevance in the dynamically changing environment. We have faced various financial crisis and strategic challenges over last 12 years. I always played an important role in ensuring our alignment with the mission of DAISY Consortium.
  • I provided guidance and mentoring to the board of DAISY Forum of India for developing organization strategy and strategic plan.
  • In W3C advisory board I realized the strong need of developing organization strategy in 2019 and initialized the work on vision, mission, purpose, principles/values and strategic goals in collaboration with AB, W3C team and wider W3C community.

Global experience

  • I have been working with the multinational technical team of DAISY Consortium since 2006. DAISY Consortium has its members and network partners spread across more than 100 countries.
  • I have been working with the multinational board of directors of DAISY Consortium since 2012.
  • I led accessibility in EPUB 3 standards group in International Digital Publishing Forum from 2014 to 2017, working with the multinational membership.
  • And I am working in W3C community since 2017, and have been on AB since 2019.
  • The education for Working with people from different cultures and countries was part of my MBA course.
