Welcome to the Semantic Industries Community Group

Hello,

I am writing on behalf of Javad Chamanara to welcome you to the Semantic Industries Community Group. We’ve launched this group to encourage discussion around the challenges and benefits for applying semantic technologies in relation to the digital transformation of industry, and to compile representative use cases that can help guide further work.

I invite you all to introduce yourselves by responding to this email. Let me start by introducing myself. I am a member of the W3C staff and based in Europe. I am the activity lead for W3C’s work on data, and a champion fo the Web of Things. I am also involved in a number of European research projects, including Boost 4.0, a large scale project for big data in smart factories.

My current research work is focusing on simplifying semantic technologies through an amalgam of RDF and Property Graphs, inspired by work in Cognitive Psychology. This includes data expressed as chunks, rules that operate upon them, and graph algorithms for big data. This is novel in that it features a blend of symbolic and sub-symbolic approaches, i.e. graphs + statistics. I am working on a series of demos, and very interested to find industrial use cases and datasets to show the potential of cognitive approaches to industry problems. For more details, see:
