Dear HTML WG, The Internationalization Core WG discussed the recent ISSUE-88 resolution [1] at our most recent teleconference [2]. After careful review and with some regret, the working group came to consensus that we support the HTML WG's proposed resolution of making the Content-Language meta tag non-conforming. While some members of the working group continue to feel that this may have a negative impact on a few users of the feature and that it is odd to single out just one of the HTTP headers supported by http-equiv, we also note that it greatly simplifies describing the use of language metadata in HTML documents. Clarity in this regard is greatly to be desired. Thank you for working with us to resolve this issue.
