Building Energy Management System for Energy Efficient Operation

From Linked Building Data Community Group
  • Title: Building Energy Management System for Energy Efficient Operation
  • Description: During the design of a building, parametrization of the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) occurs and feeds into the design of the building, HVAC and building automation systems (sensors, actuators). This design is then tested for performance during the commissioning stage to determine optimal configuration of BAS and BEMS. Continual commissioning occurs during operation, and building systems are re-configured for optimal performance based on historical data from sensors and BAS.
  • Data Domain(s): Building Products, Building Devices, Building Control, Energy
  • Objectives: Parameterization of the building energy management systems (BEMS) within the design phase of the building
  1. Parameterization of the building energy management systems (BEMS) within the design phase of the building
  • Stakeholders: Automation Engineer, BEMS Engineer, HVAC Engineer, Architect, Building Owner/Facility Manager
  • Requirements: Building owner requirements: Building program, Space Group Program, Space Program, Visual comfort, Quality, Energy
  • LD benefits:
  1. structured vocabularies allow data integration
  2. logical basis allows inference
  • Challenges:
  1. dealing with legacy protocols for BAS
