From Web Commerce Interest Group
This is a draft proposal to adjust the work mode of the Web Commerce IG, starting in 2018. Questions? ij@w3.org.
Contents
Goals
- Make the Web Commerce Interest Group a welcoming forum for discussion of commerce and payments topics and their relation to the Web.
- Increase participation (and reset expectations about participation and deliverables).
Design Considerations
- Adjust the agenda to match participant interests instead of focusing specifically on identification of standardization opportunities at W3C.
- Reduce meeting frequency.
- Clarify Chair role in agenda building
Deliverables
- The primary deliverable is to hold informative discussions of interest to participants.
- Some conversations may be driven by participants (e.g., topics of interest to them personally, or their company, or important topics they are keen to learn more about).
- Some conversations may be driven by invited speakers (e.g., from associations, SDOs, and key implementors).
- Some conversations may be driven by staff (e.g., to raise awareness about a new activity within W3C).
Scope
- The IG charter defines the scope of discussion.
Meetings
Teleconferences
- The Chairs will endeavor to call one meeting per month.
- Participants are encouraged to suggest agenda items to the Chairs and staff contact.
- The Chairs may cancel if there are insufficient agenda items.
- The Chairs may call a meeting sooner than the next monthly meeting, for example if there is perceived urgency for a topic raised by a participant.
Face-to-face meetings
- The Chairs anticipate the group will meet face-to-face as part of W3C's annual TPAC week.
- In addition, the Chairs may suggest a second face-to-face meeting based on perceived value to participants.
