Related notes:

Following up our IRB discussion, I will address concerns/inquiries from Silver TF to U of I IRB office.

1. Timeline for approval? (we don’t want to drag this forever) I assume this belongs to exempt review category which is fast but I will confirm with the IRB office. https://oprs.research.illinois.edu/review-processes-checklists/review-types - Exempt review
2. Any potential claim for Silver TF research output by U of I? – I don’t thinks so(because the goal is protecting researchers and human subjects) but I will confirm with the office.
3. Does this protect Non – U of I members, Silver TF members? – yes according to this and there is a process in establishing a “collaborating investigator” but I will confirm with the office to make sure.

“A Collaborating Investigator Agreement allows an institution such as University of Illinois that has a Federal wide Assurance with OHRP to extend the applicability of its FWA to cover collaborating investigators who do not work at an institution with an FWA.”
https://oprs.research.illinois.edu/review-processes-checklists/collaborating-research

I don’t think any of silver TF members’ institution is part of Federal Wide Assurance with OHRP.

Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you have any concerns in regards to pursue U of I IRB process for Silver research projects. Once we decide to go this route, I would like to start asap. I would also need interview questions to apply.
