From Mobile Accessibility Task Force

Notes on the WCAG Technique Sections

  • Applicability: no change
  • Description: Should also mention the HTML5 placeholder attribute which may negate the need for input examples in the label. Probably needs a warning regarding the problem that the placeholder value may disappear after user input and should not be relied upon as sole means of specifiying expected data. This is not a mobile-specific change, of course, but needed nevertheless.

The explanation might benefit from a mention of specific HTML5 input elements that constrain the expected input and produce meaningful error messages.

  • Examples: Add HTML5 placeholder example
  • Related: no change
  • Tests: Being quite generic the test probably needs no change - but check after changing Description and Examples
