Known Extensions to the PICS Formats

Both the PICS formats, for service descriptions and for label lists, permit developers to add new tags and options while still maintaining compatibility with the PICS specs. Developers may document their extensions, to encourage development of compatible products that can interpret their extensions. This is an index to those PICS extensions that developers have chosen to document publicly. Service Description Extensions

• Label bureau where this service's rating labels can be found. (Defined by W3C)

PICS Extension for HTTP Cookies

• An extension to the PICS-1.1 label format to allow labels to refer to specific HTTP cookies

DSig 1.0 Signature Labels Extensions

resinfo

  The goal of the resource reference information (resinfo) extension is to provide a cryptographic link between the signature label and an information resource.

sigblock

• http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-DSig-label/resinfo-1_0

  The DSig 1.0 Signature Block Extension (sigblock) provides cryptographic protection of the DSig 1.0 label by using digital signature techniques.
