Comment from Martin Wunderlich On the <span> element, it might make sense to insert a cross reference a bit earlier in the document. I was wondering reading through the initial sections how to markup a bit of text with ITS tags when it is not fully enclosed in an element.
Added Martin Wunderlich to the CC list.
Proposed resolution: To add some text in the first bullet of the section 2 "Basic Concepts": Current text: "local approach puts ITS markup in the relevant element of the host vocabulary (e.g. the author element in DocBook)" Proposed text: "local approach puts ITS markup in the relevant element of the host vocabulary (e.g. the author element in DocBook), and, if necessary, in the its:span element."
